The grand essentials of happiness are: Something to do, Something to love, Something to hope for.   ~Allan K. Chalmers

Well for "something to do".... my days consist of working for myself.  *smile*
I have quit the dollar store to make a living at being a house cleaner. I have been running a newspaper ad for a couple of weeks now. The response has been great, more than i ever hoped for. *smile* It's no rocket science but it will bring in a good living for me. If this keeps up, i'll need to hire someone to help me. You never know. So cool! I worked this week, all regular customers, 29 hrs. made 330.00. tips included *smile* I even have one lady on the answer machine to talk to yet. I will continue to run the ad till i have a full weeks work.

Now for "something to love"....well if you know me.... the birds, bees, flowers and trees are alive and moving!!!! The sounds of young birdies churping, the bees making locust bloom honey-so sweet of a honey too, flowers all the colors of the rainbow in folk's yards, and the trees are ready to provide shade from the warm sun! What's not to love!

"Something to hope for".... Peace of mind. *smile*

Sounds like you are in an upbeat mood tonight.  It may be your normal state of mind, as I don't know you yet I don't know.

Good luck with your business start.  Its a very good way to gain and maintain independence from 'the man'    When I started my business many years ago that was one of my main goals.  Working for 'the man' simply wasn't my thing.  Of course eventually I became 'the man' and I wasn't fond of the either.

And to love the simple things in life, too many of us look too hard to find something to enjoy in life when it is always right before our eyes.

mmi:  that's great about the response to your ad-  now if you have to hire someone to work for/with you, you get a percentage....and after a couple people working for you, you have to buy a couple of those vans with a logo with your company name on it!!!!
    i can see it now.....

i had my roof done last year by a local guy who started out doing the work himself, and after 10 years now has "crewS" of guys who do the work while he manages to make the bulk of the profit....

i have lots of things to love....the family, the dog, even the ole hubby...
and am hoping for a miracle...

I think it really is that simple. Happiness is simple - it's not something to overthink (I  think!).....hope your business grows, and grows. Take care

Fire-Flower ~ happiness is simple but sometimes you have to fight for it. *smile* Thanks

I have never thought of happiness like that. I've never made a list of some things that I need to be happy. And to tell you the truth, when I looked at these three "essentials", I understood that I had... umm... problems with each of them. But I an still consider myself as a happy person. At least I'm not UNhappy, that's for sure. I'm used to being satisfied by little pleasant things in my life and pay more attention to them, than to what is unpleasant.
But I agree with one thing: If you have those three, than you are happy, for real.
  • Me-Myself&I said on May 20, 2008....
Quna ~ I am waiting for the third essential thing....something to hope for - Peace of mind! I'm not unhappy neither. *smile* Thanks for coming by and visiting. It's always nice to see you. Take care ~see ya
