i blogged last week that the mrs and i were planning on spending the day in philadelphia today and that's what we're gonna. it should be a lot of fun!

apparently, several of the major philly universities are holding graduation this weekend, so getting reservations at hotels & restaurants for today was tricky, but i'm very excited because we're going to be having lunch at a place that specializes in tapas (amada), poke around the market street area for a while, then retreat to the hotel to get ourselves ready for dinner at morimoto, about which i blogged after our first visit there last year. o, and our hotel is actually pretty close to both, which makes me happy. :>

we were originally going to do this last week to observe our anniversary, but we had an unexpected expense, so we decided to postpone it one week until today. i mean, we did observe it last week in a small way but i wanted to observe it properly, and that means time off of work, if you ask me. :>

o, and along the way we're hoping to find a new compactflash card for my wife's digital camera. it was my b-day present to her 9 years ago, so the card is only 16 mb. we're looking for a 1 gb replacement, so we can take more than just a handful of pictures. because it's so old, the original software from its manufacturer (kodak) was lost and the new software doesn't work with it. last week we finally got an adapter so we can retrieve the pictures. we haven't been able to do that since our old computer died, so that should make things a lot easier! :>

so yeah, i know, philly's the city of brotherly love, but today, for us, it's the city of romantic love. :>

I hope you have a wonderful weekend ed.  Relax and enjoy!  :)

Have a great weekend, Ed. Enjoy yourselves immensely.

Those compactflash cards are easy to find at Walmart, Target, and BestBuy. Honestly, the best (in terms of prices) way to order them is online, but since you need one for today hopefully you will find one speedily.

Sounds like a wonderful adventure!  (and with food I have never heard of)  but hope you enjoy (ed) it!  Happy late Anniversary!  (never too late to celebrate!)

    quietone: thank you--it's been wonderful!

super z: we did, and i made a special effort to record the menu for both lunch & dinner, as i figured you might be interested--that'll follow in another blog entry. re: compactflash, what we wound up doing: i found a staples store along our route to the city (amazing how useful the google maps/zip code feature is!) and we took a minor detour to find a 1 gb card. it's a 3.1 megapixel camera, which means that even using uncompressed, 3.1 resolution, there's room for 218 pics! yet perversely, b/c it rained the entire day, we didn't take any pictures! yeah, had we done any prep, that would've made a lot more sense, you're right. ah, well, we'll know should we need to do this again. :>

    pickers: o, we did. :D

infernal: it was a lot of fun, despite the crappy weather! :>

kyle: it was great fun, thanks! :D

u-i: well, i'm not much of one for picture-posting--but even if i were, we didn't wind up taking any, as i mentioned in my response to super z, above.

    diabolic: philly's a fun town! :D

CW: and we definitely did, at that! :D

wombat: thank you--it was great fun! and yeah, it's definitely never too late to celebrate! :>
