I know this is a way out there idea.  But what if relatives came with return policies and expiration dates?  How cool would that be?!!

You have a defective parent?  Send them back to the store for repair or replacement!

Sibling no longer useful to you?  Must be past their expiration date.  Time to put them in the recycle bin or trash can.

Did you send in for the rebate when you bought your child?

I know it's a little simplistic, but wouldn't that make people try harder to get along if they knew they could be return, repaired or replaced if they didn't behave reasonably?

Do you have relatives that you would send back for manufacturing defects?  Anyone past expiration?  Did you accidentally get the wrong size or style and need to return it for something with a better fit?

Hee!!!!

Yes, my mind is a strange place for me to live.

    I love it :D

It reminds me of Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes) who was always pretending like his dad was up for election and telling him how he had done in the latest "polls."

"Your rating among 6-year-olds has plummetted since yesterday."
"Calvin!  I didn't give you dessert yesterday because you flooded the house!"

I think either I would have returned my parents or they would've returned me, ages ago!  There are some people I would've returned for not fitting that I ended up growing into later on.  So maybe it should be a lifetime repair warranty instead of a return policy?   You're stuck with 'em, but you can tune 'em up every now and then if they get a funny squeak? :D

nytquill - like an extended maintenance package or something.  Yeah, that would have worked for my sister.  We didn't get along all that great until we were adults.

I just wish a lot of them had "reset" buttons!!!
  • uniquely-ironic said on May 14, 2008....
tizzy - or reboot.  Yes, relatives seem to go a little haywire and need a new start up now and then.

Sometimes I think my whole family line should have been discontinued at the get go!  That's funny though--because when my son was little, we were at the clinic and he looked around at all the kids with parents (wondering why we were there, I suppose) and he jumped and looked up at me and asked, "Mommie, did you buy me?"

His dad, of course, said, "Yes, and we're here to get a refund!"

wombie - LOL that's funny!!  I might have said the same thing in that situation.  I know for a fact that someone picked up members of my family in the clearance bin.

I'm pretty happy with my family for the most part. But does this work on in-laws? Because I need a different model of mother in law. The one I have isn't compatible with my operating system.

This has been around for ages, but Boxy's comment about MILs reminded me of that email joke about Girlfriend software.

wombie - "irregulars", now that's good.

JBox - my point exactly.  I need a full refund on both of my in-laws.  They're both defective.

SW - I thought you might considering recent events.

I have a couple of sisters, I would have liked to have recycled, but I guess we all are who we are.
  • uniquely-ironic said on May 15, 2008....
crybaby - yes we are, but wouldn't it feel good to tweak those sisters some days?
