I saw this on Keith Olberman last night.  O'Reilly fits right in on Fox News.
  • SeanRenaud said on May 13, 2008....
Well that's no fun, my dream was always to sneak into Fox News and start writing shit at random on the teleprompter and see if he could keep up.  It's less fun if he gts pissed
  • bloc said on May 13, 2008....
haha, you should sneak in and write things like, "keith olberman's ratings are on the rise".
  • SeanRenaud said on May 13, 2008....
He'd just yell at me, it wouldn't be any fun.  Well it would be, but not the kind of fun I was looking for.  I mean if I want to bait somebody into a shouting contest I don't realy need to aim that high.

I am just so surprised it has taken people this long to realize what a penis head he is

You know, I don't really like O'Reilly or anything, but this video doesn't prove anything to me. Maybe he was having a bad day.

At the end, the final line of the show "done live" was just fine.

I'm sure that most of us have felt this way far more than a time or two. And a few of us have even expressed it in the same way.
  • princessbitch65 said on May 13, 2008....
I heard about this yesterday and man that is HILARIOUS! What a buffon!
  • bloc said on May 13, 2008....
    @tin
except this is a frequent pattern for him. He often shouts at guest he disagrees with.
  • TinSoldier said on May 13, 2008....
Yeah, which makes him a jerk. Any one of those excerpts would prove that, IMO. But this individual clip doesn't really.

Well, if anything, it would show him to be something of a primadonna.

You know, I watched him for awhile thinking that he was/could be somewhat "fair and balanced" (loaded words, now, I know). Then I saw that he had a bad habit of overtalking his guests with whom he disagreed whether they had good arguments or not. That immediately turned me off -- something that I dislike both in real life and in online discussions.

I was one of the ones who was hoping Kieth Olberman would run for president, he did a good job reporting on this, didn't he?

I've seen O'Reilly lose his temper a number of times, how exactly does that make him a jackass? The man is passionate about what he does, and he wants what he does to be professional. This clip shows a man under some stress being unprofessional when things went wrong. So What?

I listen to his radio program and watch his TV program when I get a chance, yes he's egotistical, and a primadonna and he over talks his guests sometimes. So What?

The bottom line is that he, more than any newscaster I watch gives or tries to give you both sides of any issue. I like that he's passionate and ego driven. It means he cares and if ego drives his passion; So What?

This is really not about Bill O'Reilly is it? It's about politics and personal beliefs!  I  have never seen the likes of this deep divide in personal beliefs and it's getting worse, it's a canyon. There is no common ground people on the left side and the right. Just this deep un-navigable abyss between the two.

We mock each other and throw out tid bits of information making the others icons and beliefs appear ignorant and motivated by half truths. We look for any scrap of innuendo or misspeak to prove a point. But, the problem is really this; There is a wide and deep chasm that runs through the minds and hearts of the American people. The methods used to belittle the other side has become shallow, sick in a way and serves no greater purpose. The Huffington Post? You read that?
  • bloc said on May 14, 2008....
"more than any newscaster I watch gives or tries to give you both sides of any issue"

You must not watch many newscasters ;)

"But, the problem is really this; There is a wide and deep chasm that runs through the minds and hearts of the American people. "

I completely agree, and I think O'reilly is one of the agents creating that chasm.

Notice how you fall into the hole that you are trying to uncover with this comment. O'reilly is a "good newscaster" (this is funny on many levels, first he isn't a journalist) yet you deride me for reading huff po. If you were trying to be ironic this would be a brilliant piece of comedy.
  • mobil said on May 14, 2008....
I was shooting for funny, and yes through irony, if you could not see that, it's no wonder you read the Huff as you lefties call it. And this proves my point, I see Huffington as a sleaze agent. Will wonders never cease? Yes, O'Reilly is a commentator, I know that.

Still I get to keep the brilliant piece of comedy, you can put two marks on the wall for that. One for my one time shot at brilliance. The second for you unrelenting ignorance and lack of ability to sort anything out in a sensible manner. Now go get a copy of The Weekly Standard, read slowly, reality may be too much for your system bloc. ha  ha

    Newscaster.  Heh.

Yeah, maybe this one clip of O'Reilly doesn't prove anything, then again maybe a lot of us are just getting a chuckle out of seeing him provide us with yet another in a series of examples of why he is such an effing jackass.

Yeah, maybe this one comment of Kelly's doesn't prove anything, then again maybe a lot of us are just getting a chuckle out of seeing him provide us with yet another in a series of examples of why he is such an effing jackass.
  • bloc said on May 16, 2008....
i would define jackass as someone who is afraid to have a real discussion on an issue and hides behind lame jokes.
  • mobil said on May 16, 2008....

I agree, also that an intelligent man knows when he ain't going to make a dent in the opinions of a jackass who would rather throw America under the bus than change his own wrong headed opinions if the light of truth were shined up his ass sideways.

Interpretation; It's better to be the jackass telling lame jokes than the jackass who thinks he's going to change my conservative views, when he's leaning so far left he's standing on his head.

C'mon bloc, we can argue and point to our news sources, articles even history, at the end of the day we're not going to agree, EVER ! Why don't you start writing poetry?

  • bloc said on May 16, 2008....

  • stopmediabias said on May 17, 2008....
Bloc- I just read this but I didn't watch the video.  I have just one question.  Have you ever actually watched the O'Reilly factor?  An entire show from start to finish?  Maybe even a couple shows?
  • bloc said on May 17, 2008....
yes, I've watched many of his shows. He's a chronic liar that tries to prevent a honest discussion from taking place.

I was a young republican in high school and I used to consume a regular diet of Rush and other such nonsense. I believed it at the time, then I enlisted in the army and got sent to other countries. When an introspective person lives in a couple other cultures they will quickly realize that much of the Rush/O'reilly drivel is pure bullshit.
  • stopmediabias said on May 18, 2008....

O'Reilly presents the news in a format he calls the "no spin zone."  I'll admit the guy can be an obnoxious prick at times and even I disagree with him from time to time but a chronic liar?

I like his show because a majority of the time he presents both sides of the issue.  He also constantly challenges anyone to find examples where he has presented a news story and was biased in his presentation.  That's a bold statement and no-one has called him on it.

If Rush and O'Reilly are pure drivel why are they spanking virtually every other competitor in popularity and ratings?  I think the world is in touble when millions of people listen to chronic liars who spew drivel all the time.

  • silverwhisper said on May 18, 2008....

  • kelly said on May 23, 2008....
Correction:  O'Reilly does not do a news show.  He does an entertainment show.  And he's still a jackass.  :-)

"C'mon bloc, we can argue and point to our news sources, articles even history, at the end of the day we're not going to agree, EVER"

I think the difference is that bloc points to reputable sources.
  • stopmediabias said on May 24, 2008....

Bloc/Kelly- I'll bet not one of you two people have watched more than one minute of O'Reilly.  You can tell you are getting your information from these onesided Youtube nerdclips.  O'Reilly is not just a news show it is the best news show, what determines what is the best news show?  Ratings.  O'Reilly can cetainly be a dink but it's a good show.  You guys would agree with him a lot things if you actually watched the show.

Kelly I am yet to figure you out.  You are either so blatenly out touch with everything that is logical, rational, or even realistic OR you are a reasonably bright, clever person who has a particular (personal) reason for detesting a political party and you only say things to piss people off.

  • silverwhisper said on May 24, 2008....
smb, bloc has said many times he's watched o'reilly. in fact, he's said it to you several times specifically.

    ed
  • stopmediabias said on May 24, 2008....
silver-I think he is full of it.  O'reilly is what he is but he has taken on some very good causes, like Jessica's law.  He also takes the Liberal side on his stance on big oil and legalization of drugs.  To say this is "pure drivel" is a stretch.
  • silverwhisper said on May 25, 2008....
smb, if you think he's lying, why bother reading him in the first place? that makes absolutely no sense to me.

    ed
  • kelly said on May 25, 2008....
smb:  Here is why I don't think you're particularly clever.  You simply have an agenda.

"...who has a particular (personal) reason for detesting a political party and you only say things to piss people off.  "

In all of my comments in this post I never once mentioned any political party.  I think you're projecting.
  • stopmediabias said on May 26, 2008....

Silver-because I think there is hope for bloc

Kelly-'sigh' practically everytime you speak you spew venom towards anything that is conservative or Republican or anti-Liberal.  Of course I have an agenda, that's why I'm here.

Are you are Liberal or a Conservative?

  • kelly said on May 26, 2008....
smb:  Now I really know you haven't been paying attention.  Here's a clue for you in the future, however.  My turn ons are civil rights, rule of law, equal treatment under the law and long walks on the beach.  My turn offs are fascism, authoritarian rule, non-transparent government and people with bad breath.
  • stopmediabias said on May 27, 2008....

    Kelly- Chiiiikennnn, "bawk bawk bawk"

You didn't answer the question, could be you are ashamed?  And who isn't for and against your turn-ons and turn-offs.

  • bloc said on May 27, 2008....
He answered, but it requires the ability to think, at low bar mind you, to see it.
  • kelly said on May 28, 2008....
smb:  You!  You, you, you are not against my turn offs or for my turn ons.  Anybody who is would be incensed by Bush by now.  You are a walking billboard for party loyalty over thinking about issues.

And the pathetic need for a black and white answer to complex issues is childish.  OK, here's what I'm doing in November.  I'm voting Democratic.  Mostly because I'm voting against the Republican party for everything they allowed Bush to get away with in his two terms.  After that I'm voting third party.

Please try to remember these answers.
  • TinSoldier said on May 29, 2008....
"I think the difference is that bloc points to reputable sources."

I would argue that, kelly, even though I also agree that O'Reilly himself is disreputable.

Anyway, I'd say that bloc's sources can be a mixed bag, but even though he sometimes gets my hackles up about what is and what is not a reputable source, I respect his integrity and believe that he's probably quite aware when sources cites have an agenda.
  • bloc said on May 29, 2008....
having an agenda and having integrity are two vastly different things.

Let's take this outside of the political arena for an example. If you ask me what programming language you should learn then my answer would have an "agenda" behind it since I have a great deal of experience and have formed opinions based on those experiences. I have these opinions because I am passionate about programming, i.e. I have an agenda. I am passionate that scheme would be the best programming language to use for introductory computer science courses and I think we'd be better off if it were taught over languages like java.

Don't you want answers from the people that are passionate, AND HONEST, on a subject? I think asking a person that is dispassionate wouldn't be very useful at all.
