Its nice to see a bit of spring and or summer finally!!  It feels more like summer today as it is about 70F and a nice little breeze and plenty of sunshine!  Gotta love it!  I have been waiting quite a few months for this one!  :)

What beautiful pictures!!  I haven't seen a bleeding heart in a long time.  Those look more like wild violets than jump ups.  Nice work!!

Beautiful flowers, quiet! I love bleeding heart. And I second u-i's vote that the last ones are wild violets (don't johnny jump ups usually have a strong dual color scheme?). Whatever they are, they're pretty!

    U. I. ~ thanks, I am still waiting for my lilly of the valley to bloom, I love them.. its my birth flower too!  I agree on the wild violets.  Thanks!

Infernal ~ I think you are right on the jump ups.. they are more 2 colored like deep purple and yellow or something.  These have leaves like violets do.  yes, I like them, I hate mowing them over.

Your bleeding heart is beautiful, Quiet. How do you keep slugs from eating your hostas? I lost so many of them that I don't bother planting hostas anymore.

    beautiful garden quitone!!! =)
  • quietone said on May 13, 2008....
Twyla ~ we really don't have much of a problem with slugs here.  I sure did when I lived out there in WA I had never ever seen such huge ugly things.. they ate everything.  we have tiny snails, but they don't seem to do harm either. All you have to do is surround them with a line of salt!
  • quietone said on May 13, 2008....
queenie ~ thanks.  I like the kind that requires little care!
  • Twylarants said on May 13, 2008....
Salt? Great..I'll give it a try. Thank you, Dear!
  • quietone said on May 13, 2008....
twyla .. oh yes, salt will burn those fat little suckers right up to notta!  That slug bait works well too.  I used both out in WA good luck..

The title of this post scared me, as I didn't know what a "bleeding heart" was!  I am just now into trying to buy plants and grow something besides hair on my chin, and I don't know the names!

These are beautiful flowers and I know how much love and care must go into them from you!

But i do think of you! (hug) Take care, and yes, isn't it grand with everything in color! Have a good one. ~see ya

You have a beautiful garden, Quiet!
  • quietone said on May 13, 2008....

secret ~ yes it is nice to see color and feel warmth isn't it? ( although probably in another month I will be complaining about humidity)

skald ~ wow 50 is still pretty cool, yes. I was looking at the grass in your pictures the other day and seeing that just signs of green.  I think we are way ahead of you as far as spring so far.  But by June.. you should be nice and warm.  :)

destiny ~ the bleeding heart is a perenial so its an easy grow and they grow pretty fast too.. I like easy.

MeMy ~ hi ya.  good to "see" you even for a peek.  Hope you get to take a break soon so you can go play in the dirt too.  You need that every now and again.  :)  thanks..

pickers  ~ not much of a garden, but it is one I don't have to tend to much and that is the best kind!  thanks.

Great job quietone I'm impressed you apparently have a green thumb. Your pictures not only place us at the site itself but I can also smell the fragrance. Now I know where all the bees are hanging out :-)
  • destinydiva said on May 15, 2008....
I like easy too !!  :-) I'm gonna go plant shopping at the weekend and those are defo on my list :-) xx
  • quietone said on May 15, 2008....

diabolic ~ hi, yes, I do like the bleeding heart.. it looks so delicate but is such a hardy plant!

Cman ~ no real green thumb here to be honest.  I watch them grow and maybe water then when it is dry and they fend for themselves.. but thanks!

destiny ~ have fun shopping for plants, I love doing that.  There is also a all white bleeding heart as well.. but I like the pink ones better.

  • soaringraven said on May 15, 2008....

soaring ~ hello, and welcome to SC and my blog.  Yes it is wonderful to see color instead of that white stuff.  thanks
