Yesterday was a holiday here. It was Whit sun, the second day in whit sun. Pálmi was called to work how ever. To salvage something. When he was almost done I took the grand kids there. They like to visit grand pa at work and as you see on the picture they got something nice in their cups.

We drove to Keflavík 50 kilometers from Reyjavík to meet Gummi and the other Sólstafir at that airport. They told us that this trip had been very good. They had a great audience and their concert was a big success. Many people have asked about the flour. What they were doing with it. They scattered it over their own cloths to make them look old. They were all dressed in black.

No good photo of them all together.

Grill time. The kids were contented with sausages. Gummi and I had some meet too.

Þór (Thor) with a star wars sword his dad gave him. He also got a little plane and Freyja got very good looking hand bags.

Queen.  Yes and they had a lot of fun. I was looking at some pictures at my space that someone put in. It was of them and other bands.

Gummi had this window open and it was a friend of theirs, some one who was there who had the page.

"Lifestyle" is a perfect tag here--I absolutely love your lifestyle!  This looks like a fun day, and I must say, your son is so cool!  I like the photos, but my fav is the one of Thor closing up the sword.
  • skald said on May 13, 2008....
Wombat.  lol Thor with the sword. He really asked me to see this. I think he is funny sometimes. Not funny strange but funny as in humor. Thanks Wombie .
  • wombat said on May 13, 2008....
Kids world's are the biggest and best trips we take.  I have to finally say here that Thor looks amazingly like my step son's kid.  I have noticed this all along but never said.  He is a funny kid--keeps us laughing at his antics.  So I know all about the, "Look at this!"  "Do you see me?"

Wombat. Would you PM me a photo of  him? I sure would like to see him. Funny how kids so far apart can be alike and alike in character too. This is a funny world.
Me.  Oh  you take me back.  It is such a long time since I stood in line to see a movie. Those were the good old days. lol Thanks for coming here.

Batty.  I like it too. :-) And I like the hill because kids play there a lot. In the winter they slide down there on their sledges.
  • diabolicdame said on May 14, 2008....
Nice pictures skald! And thats quite a creative way to use the flour too.. I'm glad their concert was a big success! I love that star wars sword too.. looks like thor had fun.  :-)
  • skald said on May 14, 2008....
Dia.  Yes, now we know that flour is good for more than baking. Thanks.

  • wombat said on May 14, 2008....
skald:  I am sorry--but I don't have the capability to do photos here.  Everything I post is "borrowed" from the internet.  I am going to try to get set up for that one of these days!  But, yes, the two boys look like twins almost!  The first and the last photo--I would almost say was him.  The close up, I can see that the lips are quite different, though.
  • skald said on May 14, 2008....
*Wombat.  That is O.K  I do know that this is so and therefore I would like to see it.:-)
  • Trinov said on May 14, 2008....
Hi, I really enjoyed your family pictures again. Yes and your son's group looks like a rock band! But isn't it a hassle to wash all that hair? Have they made any CD's yet?

I enjoyed Star Wars when it first came out. My husband and I were almost alone in the movie theatre in Beer-Sheva --for Israelis in the 1970's were not ready, for the most part, for science fiction. Star Treck, for instance was only on Jordanian television for a while and much later.

Boys enjoy being heros and I think that is a good thing-wanting to save the world. Hopefully Thor will grow up to a world were fighting will be obsolete, we can only hope, right?
  • skald said on May 14, 2008....
Trinov.  Yes they have made Cd's the first one was made in Austria and the last one in Finland. There are some between and one coming up.

Bet it was fun to be almost alone in the movie theater.

I wish so too Trinov. But I think fighting in this world will go on for some bit yet, alas.
  • Trinov said on May 17, 2008....
Hi, what is the name of the band? I'm asking since groups playing in Europe are often on Israeli radio. Irish groups, or instance, are very very popular here and some of them come for the summer music festivals. Maybe Gummi's grop would eventually book here also?

It was very strange being almost alone in one of those huge old-fashioned movie theatres. (Now I think it is a an auditorium of a religious school). The only other people there was one of my doctors and his son! Now of course, science fiction is much more popular here as well.

I guess every generation prays that the next one will not have the wars and other troubles that they endured. But now there really may be a chance that the page is turning fast enough that the boys of today will not have to fight. We can hope and pray that it will be true.
  • skald said on May 17, 2008....
Trinov.  Yes, I would like to pray for peace on earth. My granny sung so beautifully a song named it and it is on the only record we have with her. There are 3 songs and the first one is named Peace on earth.

Do the people in Israel like traditional Irish music? We do here and they Irish say we react to it exactly like the Irish do.

    Guðmundur's band is named Sólstafir.

So how do you make sure there is peace at the family table during meals?
