Who's reading antithesis (12):
I am overwhelmed with the loads of work to do and not one of them that I really love doing. It is called JOB. In today's cut throat life, not all of us get to live their dream. Instead, we spend our times making means to survive. A life of a lil bit of comfort. And then we say, "I'll do that later", when we have the resources to pursue our dreams.

But what if one day, we lose that chance..."that later"...? What if, indeed, life is too short? A cliche that doesnt hit home until they happen to anyone close to us. What if we would never wake up to know if life is indeed too short just because we lost that very life?

We breathe but we never live. In fact, whoever coined that line "Get a life", surely understands how it is to live. BUT HOW?

To live the life you want to live takes hard work, bravery, sacrifice and a long-term outlook.

    How?
    1. Be very very clear about the life you want to live. What are your days like? What do you do? How much do you make? Do you commute? How far? Do you work out of your home? Can you do that now?
    2. Estimate distances - how far are you now from where you want to be? Do you have to move across the country to live the life you want? How about across town?
    3. Take stock of available resources - what do you have available, and what do you need to live the life you want? Money? Education? Skills?
    4. Talk to people who are living like or closest to like the way you want to live. How did they get there? What training / skills / investments / business relationships did they seek out to get where they are today, where you want to be? Do they feel that they're living the life of their dreams, as you think you would be if you were in their situation?
    5. Give yourself a timeline - how many years do you think it will take to get where you want to be, while maintaining your current position paying the bills etc.
    6. Get started! Work on your goals every single day, on weekends, holidays, nights. Spend all your free time pursuing your goal. You will get there if you keep at it.
    7. Push through failure. So things go wrong the first few times. If what you want out of life is really all that valuable to you, you will do it, no matter how many times you take a step and fall.

So, are you ready for this? If so, good luck. If not, perhaps it's time to content yourself with where you are.

Everyone has the power to change their life. What separates those who do from everyone else is simply that they do it while others dream and complain.

curmudgeon - thanks a lot for the advice. I honestly appreciate it. Btw, I think you are a coach/trainor of some sort? :-) Am I right?

antithesis - I worked in consulting for a very brief period, so I have some small idea of what organizations need to do to transform themselves. I just take their macro ideas and apply them to individuals.

Let's just say right now my career goal is more in the spiritual development field. I need to be a little vague at this point.

    Best of luck!
