They take some weird part of the bible very literally, but if you remind them that the New Testament says to 'gouge out your eyes if they cause you to lust' they'll say it doesn't really mean that. Everyone spreads it, no matter what the color or the race or the sexual orientation. Heterosexuals are just as bad when it comes to spreading disease. We just need to educate people on how to prevent spreading it, and it's something everyone should learn about, no matter what orientation you are.

  The majority of cases where molestation occurred within the Catholic Church were between male priests and girls. It is pretty interesting to note however that a lot of gay individuals who struggle with sexual orientation and faith often choose to enter the church. If, due to their religion, they're not supposed to have sex with others of the same gender, then what better way to ensure that than a vow of celibacy? And in terms of HIV/AIDS... usually when a group is disproporitonately affected by a disease, it's because they are not getting the education, health care, and services that are required to comat the spread of it. It shows that the government, society, and surrounding communities aren't providing them with the resources required to adequately provide prevention and care. Think about school - how many young gay men were ever taught about how to protect themselves from HIV in their sex education class? It's people that throw blame that we need to look out for. When HIV/AIDS first came out, it was labeled as a gay white male disease. Now communities of color in this country are being affected because they went along with those presumptions. However, worldwide HIV & AIDS is shifting more towards the heterosexual population and women. Casting blame about a disease gets nothing done - in fact it makes things worse. Instead of pulling some numbers off a website, try checking out the articles which were written by people more qualified. I would say their interpretation of the numbers are more reliable than yours (or mine).

  The catholic church is a crock, so I won't get into their foundation for hypocrisy and self-righteous glorification. As for Gays helping to spread and not CURB AIDS, well this is pretty much a fact. And if you're arguing that gay men were never taught to protect themselves, then you couldn't be more wrong. Sex education in today's schools has taught both genders and orientations that you can pass on disease through intercourse, which encompasses both anal or vaginal. For the past few decades, we have been drilled into our heads that CONDOMS help prevent disease. Well studies again show that most homosexuals do not use condoms during sex. Studies also show that many homosexuals engage in more sexual activity with multiple partners than your average heterosexual.These two factors combined equals a recipe for the spreading of disease. And the sad fact is, many homosexuals will often practice bisexual behavior, which then spreads the disease to heterosexuals, instead of containing the disease within their own orientation. So it's bad enough that some is gay, but how detrimental is it to society when a gay person can't decide on his or her orientation and becomes bisexual part-time and helps spread diseases to not only their own kind, but to everyone else.

  I'm not a Catholic, but I am a Christian, and while the Catholic church has been WAY hypocritical, the Christian church has been just as bad. Why? We all have free choice. People blame God or the Bible for bad things happening, but we choose to carry out bad things ourselves and refuse to take the blame. Bad things like rascism, bigotry, prejudice. Homosexuals, in my belief, are contrary to God's creation. It's unnatural. At the same time, they need to be treated as human beings. Many gays and lesbians claim that they do not have a choice, that they were born that way. I think that parents have much responsibility in that, and that the more tolerant society is of homosexual behavior, the more people will be opened up to ridicule. About the Bible's stance: there is some crazy shiz in the Bible, most of which comes from the fact that it was written in a time where society was MUCH different from it is now. Much of the Bible is to be taken at face value, but people (like Jesus) in it also speak figuratively. If the Bible is to be quoted or talked about, it must be because we read it and sought meaning, not regurgitating skeptical views of it. It comes down to this: homosexuality is wrong according to God's morality, but the Bible also declares that the greatest commandment is to love God, and love others as yourself. Meaning, no matter a person's flaws or sins, they must be loved as a brother/sister. Why is that important? Because it is the perfect weapon against prejudice and bigotry. Think about it.
