Herbiekvöld 009

Herbiekvöld 006

Herbiekvöld 003

Most of the day until now there have been 5 children playing here. We took a little time off and visited mum. Freyja and Þór came with us.
The first film on our national TV was Herbie from either 2002 or 2005. I sat here watching it with the five kids and I had a good laugh.

I still remember an evening in 1984 when my boys were 6 and 9. Gummi had gone twice with me taking a lesson saying r. He could not say r. and we say hard r's here. He was to go to school in the autumn and I did not want the kids teasing him.

That evening we rented a video. Herbie. I knew nothing about it but all of us , a family of four sat here roaring with laugher and the boys were really excited. I did not notice it but still heard it that evening, Gummi said more than one time Herbie with the r. Next day we were visiting my parents and on the way home Gummi said Herbie with the r . I said, you said r. He then became so happy that he could not stop talking and laughing. He talked and laughed all the way home and no one else could get a word in. What a happy memory this is.

wow look at the 5 kids being so good!!  Looked like they all enjoyed the movie.  That is great that Gummi found his "r" in Herbie.  :)   did your uncle paint that picture behind the sofa?
  • skald said on May 10, 2008....
    Lucy. Thanks again.
Quiet. Yes they did enjoy it. The little one Emma was on the go, she is only 3 and Pálmi gave her bread she can eat that little one and Daria was back and forward too getting bread to eat, She had seen the movie and was telling the others what would come. We have this problem all the time, she wants to tell and we don't want to be told before we see it. lol Then the little one gets stubborn  and tells more. lol  Any way it was not so bad now.
Yes, this picture behind the sofa is by my uncle and it has been with us from the start.

Happy, indeed! Herbie is still one of my favorite movies. To think it also helped him pronounce his r is also a reward. Thanks for sharing.

Adorable kids ! The picture behind the sofa must be huge. Is it a print or a picture?
  • skald said on May 11, 2008....
Blue.  You are so right. It is fun to watch with children and a good way to interact with them but we would not watch this alone. Would we.lol Thanks for stopping by.
Cry.  I will never forget the old Herbie movie because of this. It was so wonderful. lol
Rusty  Yes, it was such a nice time. Thanks
Scipio.  It is a painting the my uncle did. He is my mothers brother and we have had it all the years we have been married.  It is often seen if family pictures but alas only a part of it, most of the time.

Kyle.  The Herbie movies are fun for kids. The grand kids have not seen the first one and maybe sometimes I will rent it.

Skald, I clearly remember the Herbie movies and absolutely loving them as a child. . .I think I should get one for Tigger to watch, I'm sure he'd be thrilled.  I love the story about Gummie and his "r" too :-))

I was just reading what you had written to quiet about Daria and I am just like that! hehe.. I always blurt out whats going to happen in the movie if I've seen it before! My family hates me for it but they've gotten used to it now as I don't seem to be improving at all! hehehe..
  • skald said on May 11, 2008....
Dia. heehe we love Daria she is like one of our grandkids.Ane her parents are our fiends And almost like our big kids. They are a bit older than our children. You on the other hand are much younger than they are but I am sure I would feel about you as a daughter and not minc so much your blurring away. I would say Dia shut up and what would  you say and do . Bib smile on my face. Daria is a lovely girl and I thin  you are so too.
  • diabolicdame said on May 11, 2008....
Oh thanks skald! I love that you said you'd say 'Dia shut up'. It shows a sense of closeness I think. How lovely! I would grin ear to ear if you said that! hehe.. I am grinning right now too! Though you should know I'm a complete chatter box and its quite difficult to shut me up! I would try my best though!  :-D

Destiny.  of that lot , there are 2 who are my grand kids. One girl Daria lives in this house and is always with my 2 grand kids. Her parents are our friends. There are two girls on this picture which are sisters and belong to my friend.  We have been friends since we were 10. She is their grandmother and also lives in my house. Sometimes Daria gets offended but always comes back. Just like kids. are.

I have 4 grand kids but those two are here every week end. thanks for dropping in.
