I finally have time to write a real post. And not just one talking about feet or my random thoughts! Last night was kind of interesting around here because the kid at the end of our street had a wild party. He's just a teenager, and I've never actually seen his parents before. I'm sure they must live there, because most 16 year olds don't own their own houses. But they're not the most attentive parents obviously.
I'm not sure if they were out of town or just thought it'd be cool to host an alcohol and drug infested party for their son. Who knows? But we got warning ahead of time that they were doing this. Mostly because the guy across the street from us is like the neighborhood watch dog. And he said he'd seen the car full of booze that the kid was unloading, so we were told it might be a long night. And that we should lock up our cars good and keep the phone handy in case we needed to call the police to break up the party.
I should also mention that this kid is a drug dealer of some sort too. I see him waiting out in his driveway, and all these random cars will pull up. He'll lean into the window, you see things being exchanged, and then the people drive off. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that they're not trading baseball cards there.
So anyway, I was hoping for a nice quiet night, but I knew we might not get it. The music started up around 9:00pm. It was a little annoying, but not that bad. The worst part was all the cars that kept pulling up and parking in front of our house. This was a BIG party. There were at least 50 cars full of people.
After 10:00pm, it's supposed to be quiet time, but the music didn't stop of course. But I was able to drown out the sound of the Fall Out Boys singing Dance, Dance!! and I fell asleep anyway. But around 1:30am there was a lot of noise outside. I got up and looked out the window and there were people standing on our front lawn smoking. And then a group of people ran through our side yard laughing and screaming. I was getting pissed.
I was about to go out there, when I heard my neighbor across the street start shouting. He was like, "you fucking kids need to shut the fuck up and get out of here or I'm calling the cops!" He was REALLY mad. And he looks way more intimidating than me most of the time, so I figured he had it handled. But I couldn't resist going out on my front steps anyway just to show them that there were actual people living in the house where they'd decided to camp out in the yard.
That's when I noticed that the neighbor was out there yelling at the top of his lungs in nothing but a pair of boxer shorts. I had to stifle my laughter because it was the funniest thing ever. And these kids thought so too because they were kids and totally drunk and not feeling particularly respectful of adult authority. So they told Boxer Man to fuck off and put some clothes on.
This started a huge fight because Boxer Man started throwing rocks from his garden at the group of kids. And then another neighbor came outside with a phone and said they'd called the police. One of the kids said they were glad because Boxer Man was going to be arrested for assault. But then someone pointed out how they were all underage and totally wasted and likely had drugs on them too. So were they really going to stick around and file a formal complaint over being pelted with rocks? Probably not.
So they took off and I went back inside. And eventually the police did show up and the party ended badly for a lot of them. But more of them escaped than got caught. It was quite a scene out there and the noise level was not conducive to sleeping. Unless you're Natalie, because she barely woke up at all. She just asked me what was happening and I told her it was the party, and she mumbled something like, "stupid assholes..." and then she put the pillow on her head and went back to sleep.
I wish I could sleep like that! I have been sleeping better, by the way. It's been months since I've not woken up at 4am. But the last few days, I've been sleeping normal. And I was looking forward to last night because I knew I didn't have to get up today. But alas, sleep eluded me once again. There was just too much chaos.
I did fall back asleep though, but I still woke up before 7am. My cat alarm clock wouldn't shut up and kept beating on the door. It's just too damn noisy at our place to ever sleep. But I still feel good today. So that's a plus. Who needs sleep when you've got a pot of strong coffee, right?
I hope I can stay awake tonight because we're going to a roller skating party. Yes, roller skating! I haven't done that since I was a kid. In fact, I don't really remember if I've ever done it. I think there was a birthday party once when I was 6 or 7. I have been rollerblading though, so hopefully I can do this without breaking anything. Wish me luck. With my accident prone-ness, I'm going to need it!
But for now I need to think about getting a garbage bag and cleaning my front lawn. There are cigarette butts, empty cans of Red Bull and beer and water bottles everywhere.
*sigh*
Stupid assholes....
