I was in the ladies' department of the store the other day, and as I was browsing for various things, I noticed some garments that didn't make sense to me.

Why do they make bras with padding (and I mean, like, half a falsie's worth) in size D+? I mean, at that point, do you really NEED any help looking bigger??

And why do some of them have like four inches of space between the cups? I don't know about everyone else, but that would only work for me if the "girls" pointed in completely different directions and I carried one under each armpit. Um...not so much. Thanks anyway.

Heavy questions for a Friday, I know. ;-)

It always makes me laugh when I see those bras in the store that already have boobs in them. I know I'm really lame and embarrassing to take shopping, but I can't resist squishing the fake padded boobs when I walk by....It's a compulsion!

I hate hate hate padded bras in anything bigger than a B.  Seriously, once you are a C - you don't need it!!  And it's just taking up shelf space and reducing the selection of bras I would actually WEAR.  Urgh.

I haven't noticed too many with the cups so far apart but that does seem counterintuitive.  I mean, in their natural state boobs (especially large boobs) point a little away from each other.  The whole point of a bra is to get everybody going in the same general direction!

What I really hate though is how all the cute styles I'm actually interested in are for the A and B gals.  By the time you get up to my size you've got granny bras to go with the granny panties - just because I have big boobs doesn't mean I'm a hippopotamus with no sense of style and no man in my life!  Or else they have as much scaffolding and architectural engineering as a cathedral under construction!

Infernal, Oh my word.  Thank you.  I could go on for daaaays about bras!  I just know there is some woman-hating man out there who designs these things for sadistic reasons that we'll never know.  You are right, Ds do not need extra padding!  I'd also like to know why all the D-sizes look like my grandma's bra (sorry grandma), have that "cross-your-heart" style, and straps wide enough to hold down luggage strapped to the top of my car......or worse yet, they are torpedo shaped.  lol!

Kyle, now I'll imagine you squeezing the bras each time I walk through the lingerie department in Wally World.  ;-)))  Funny!

I need steel reinforced bras as it is, so I won't be looking for any padding anytime soon.  My gripe is with the ones that hook in the front.  I have no idea how anyone my size could even THINK about wearing one.  All it takes is one good sneeze and someone loses an eye!

    lol @ Wishyouwerehere!

Kyle: If I lived over there, I might have to organize a shopping expedition just for sheer humor value. :-D Or better yet, make a prank bra and slip it onto a rack so that if you did squeeze it, it would squeak at you.

nyt: So true on the styles! I mean, I'm not Dolly Parton, but come on...the only women who get cute bras are the ones with not much to put in them? That's not fair to the rest of us! (And where were those bras back when I actually was a Flatty Patty? :-p)

fearing: You really made me laugh. :-D I have no idea why the Ds (and even some Cs - and a C is pretty average, I'd say!) have the matronly designs.

Wishy: I don't get front hooks either, except that they're more comfortable when you're lying down. But yeah, if I was in any larger of a size than I am, there's no way I'd want to wear one of those! Can you imagine trying to explain a disaster of that magnitude? :-D

    LOL  Wishy!

fearsome, if I tried to hold up these girls with a skinny little strap, well the word avalanche comes to mind.

For some reason I'm reminded of the satisfaction felt when I first unhooked a bra with just one hand.

I don't really have anything to add to this. I don't get it either. But I'm chuckling over what Kyle said. Dude, you squish the fake boobies on the hanger? Yeah, I can see you doing that.

I thought I was the only one annoyed by bras that had a huge space between each bra cup! Stupid bras...that's always the problem I have when I need a new one.

I wear a 42EE ... most of the bras I find are POINTY or padded. OMG ... wtf?
  • queenparanoia said on May 09, 2008....
youre right.... and it's very uncomfortable.. =)

I am so-o-oooo glad i read this - my sides are hurting!!

Someone else . . . at last. . . that hates the bras that make your boobies point east and west!!

And come on girls - it had  to of been a guy that designed those big pointy ones (sorry guys but we girls wouldn't have let them get through quality control never mind leave the production line).

I'm with Mimi and Wishy - and just cos we're a generous size, don't mean we don't want pretty!  Imagine. . . .all that pretty frill and petals wasted on a double A!  C'mon you bra makers - us larger ladies are sexy too :-)

I wear a DD but because I have my nipples pierced I need a small amount of padding, otherwise it would look like I was cold the entire time!

But that's the only reason I can think of, and I don't get those ones which are like gel and huuuuge, say that they can boost you up a cup size and all that- and they are SO heavy! Why would anyone want to walk around with that on their chest?! Lol

Plus it's a bit disappointing for the men if they think we have HUUUUUGE tits- like Jordan size, with all the extra padding, and then we take off our bras and theres like nothing there! Well, not nothing- obviously, but not a lot compared to Jordan. Not sure who'd want boobs like that anyway though tbh...

You all have tickled the shit out of me! Thank you very much!
I only wear one if i have to. ;~0  that is why they get in the way, swinging and a hanging everywhere....lol! i'm leaving now on that note....

i've never understood why they make push-up bras for larger than a b cup, either. it's absolutely insane.

as to why 4" between the cups: i guess the designers figured that some women really wanna show off the girls?

idk about you but I just want them off my belly button ... LOL. It's just a shame I need an industrial-strength push-up bra.
