This was a sermon I preached a year ago, before I got sick,
Just sharing for anyone interested in my old self...
I say to you all right now---the light is green. Some things are obvious PROCEED WITH SPEED. People are searching for the answers and we have them, they are reaching out to us to lead them to Christ. When things aren’t so obvious--we what?? PROCEED WITH CAUTION! Some people take the simple and make it complex. Even when it comes to reading the Bible. Some people start explaining it with big hard to understand words, keep it simple. It is almost as if some of us try to hide the obvious truth of God behind big words. Matt: 24:35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” A not so obvious truth is that the words of Jesus will never pass away. We only know it because we believe Jesus and he says it will never pass away, but it isn’t obvious to those who don’t believe. It is the same thing as nothing appearing to be eternal to those who don’t understand because we do not live in an eternal world.” It is obvious to us because we believe in Jesus.
Once Again……..When Things are obvious---proceed with speed……….When things are not as obvious---proceed with caution!
Gen. 3:1-7 “ Now the serpent was more crafty than ay of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ( 1 )“Did God really say, “You must not eat from any tree in the garden?“ (2) /The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, (3) but God did say, “ You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die. “ (4) You will not surely die, “ the serpent said to the woman. (5) “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. “ (6) When the woman saw that the frit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye , and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. (7) Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.“
Would you say that there was anything in this scene that was not obvious, which should have brought about some caution?
Yes! The Serpent!
