It was my sister's birthday, so the Koolaid family got together for a little celebration. She felt like having Sushi, so we decided to go to this Japanese restaurant near by. This restaurant is supposedly one of the best Japanese restaurants in the greater Chicagoland area and my sister's been hearing wonderful things about this place, so we decided to check it out.
Let me just say from the get go that this restaurant was worth all the hype. The place had Japanese ladies walking around in kimonos and wooden clogs and all. Off to the side, there were these rooms with dividers in them and you had to take your shoes off to go inside, sit on those tatami mats and all. Very authentic. :) I would have taken more pictures but the lighting was poor, so I couldn't really get a good shot. I did manage to take a few pictures, however.
When we got to our private dining room, they brought us individual plates of edamame and hot towels to wipe our hands with. They served us green tea and we ordered the large sushi plate. When they brought the plate in, we were all very impressed.

The plate had everything from tuna, squid, salmon, egg, fish roe, shrimp, eel(yumm)... It was a feast for the eyes as much as it was a feast for the taste buds.

We all got our individual plates and a little side dish for mixing soy sauce and wasabi. On the little plates were slivers of pickled ginger, which you eat to cleanse your palate.

My nephew didn't really like the sushi that much... He had his own dinner, you see... He did eat a whole bowl of rice and miso soup while he was sitting with us, though. While he was eating, he kept saying, "nyam nyam nyam"... It was just so dang cute!!! :D

I think he enjoyed himself as much as everyone else did that night. Though he didn't like the sushi much, he'll grow into it, I'm sure. Plus, I think it was the environment and the company that he enjoyed more. I shared his sentiment that night. All the waitresses were cooing at the sight of my nephew and though he enjoyed all the attention, he was playing coy and hiding behind his mother and stuff, which made him all the more charming.
That's to be expected from him, though. After all, him and I do share some genetic characteristics... ;)
I had so many different kinds of fish that night... I felt like a shark... I was so stuffed... It was a delicious moment in time, something I hope to cherish. To give this moment it's due meed of glory, I decided to preserve it here.
Thanks for stopping by...
Grape.
P.S. I said that I would put up a miscellaneous photo as well, so here it is. It's my tree. It's starting to blossom, and in a few day's time, it'll be in full bloom. I'll put the pictures of it then, too. :)
