Do you remember this scene from a movie? I loved this movie, it had me on the edge of my seat all the way through. Can you name the movie? What did you like best about this movie, and what did you like least. I am a science fiction nut. I say nut, because I am nuts about it. My walls are all lined with science fiction books and DVD's.  Are there any other nuts here?

    Rusty,

I love science fiction.  I read, and watch a lot of it.  If I had to hazard a guess i would say "War of the Worlds," but I don't remember this scene from either version.  What movie is it?   Peace and Long Life

    Love Worf

Duke -    R.A. Salvatore...The Ancient...The villian reminds me of the oldtime catholic priests during the crusades.

Worf -  then yo see what I mean about being scary, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Thanks,

Secretlife -  You and Worf got it right. I like Tom Cruise, and this was some movie, wasn't it? Thanks.

I love sci-fi but don't get to see many movies (B sitting through a whole film without fidgetting?  I don't think so ha ha).

I haven't seen the latest version of W of the W but first thing I thought of when I saw the pic was "Thunderchild" being attacked by the aliens as sung by Justin Heywood - love that albumn and play it bits :-)

I liked the Foundation books by Asimov. And the series that turns Lord of the Rings upside down, Jacqueline Carey's Sundering books. I also like Jacqueline Carey's books about sexy Phedre no Delaunay, the Kushiel series.

My first thought was War of the Worlds, and then I read down and saw it had already been answered :)

I cut my teeth on sci fi and it's still my favorite kind of fiction I have to say.  I am mostly a Star Wars and Star Trek fan.  I also like Aasimov but I haven't read nearly as much of him as I'd like.  When I was a kid I used to read all the classic sci fi they had at the city library, Heinlein and Pohl and all those guys, but it's been so long now that I'm pretty fuzzy about which ones I liked.  One of my favorites is David Weber, the Honor Harrington series he writes and also his book Mutineer's Moon.  And there is one book, a collection of sci-fi mystery/detective stories Sci-Fi Private Eye.  Despite the silly title it's a great read; some of those stories stick in my mind to this day.

Movies: besides Star Wars and Star Trek, I like Independence Day, Space Cowboys, Space Camp...Galaxy Quest, which is a comedy making fun of Star Trek (hilarious!), Mystery Science Theater 3000 (also a TV series, funny show)...  oh there's probably lots more but I've had a long day of cake baking and my memory is failing me at the moment.

Rusty......Never seen this i am afraid! (blush) Have you ever heard of "Doctor Who"? It is a seties that began back in about 1963 and has never died! The early series were cheaply made and today, are almost comical. Well, pathetic really,.....but there has always been that is in reality a cult following! It is addictive! The program has improved out of sight! As it has stepped into the 21st century (literally -  it is about a traveling time lord) it has really matured. If you get a chance to see the NEW Doctor Who series, don't miss it! This link (if it works) will tell you a little about it.

I'm a big scifi/fantasy fan. Will read/watch almost anything scifi. Do you watch any anime? Some good scifi there, like Big O and Cowboy Bebop. And sometimes I write some short stories.
