But, you see, they always do miss the "bigger" picture.  That doesn't sell many newspapers or get high ratings on the "tube".

They keep asking "Why didn't Obama do something about the comments and remarks that Jeremiah Wright had been saying for years?"

They keep asking; "How could he sit there week after week and not become infuriated over the "seemingly outrageous" things that his pastor had been saying for years?"

That is a simple answer, if you ask me.  Most of the "snippets" and "comments" Are indeed being taken out of context!

For several days now I have been scratching my head, thinking to myself, and I have made comments on different blogs around Soul Cast, that I too couldn't imagine the remarks being made by a pastor speaking from the pulpit.

I even wondered if he wasn't spicing his sermons with such dogma to stimulate the minds of the listeners, or even trying to gain in church attendence.

How I missed it until now, is beyond me!  "Dee, how did you miss something so obvious?"

It isn't about Obama.  The media made it about Obama.  They have been trying to find something on Obama since he announced his run for president.  They'd grab a little of this and a little of that, but nothing "sensational" like this.

They must've looked at this as "manna from heaven".  The funny thing is, my guess, this will end up working in Obama's favor, not against him, because have you noticed how the Super delegates are running to his side now?

Good for them.  If he gets the nomination, and is elected president, we might just accidentally find someone who will surprise us all, and bring some much needed dignity and integrity to the Whitehouse afterall....

I do see the point you are making, and it is possible. Thank you, blue.

I will also go as far as to say that, I somewhat understood what Pastor Wright was saying when he was trying to explain that where Obama and he differ is that , unlike Obama, he is not a man called to be politically correct or astute or acceptable to politicians, rather he is called by the Lord to preach the gospel.

What saddens me is that a relationship between these two that has been nurtured over a period of almost 20 years now, whereby Obama even says he was like a member of his own family has been damaged in this way. And for that, I blame the media.

i think wright is a complex person with different sides that he draws from to form the entire picture.

being a preacher's son, i know that my dad drew from his life experiences, as well as things he saw happening to those around him. some think as a sermon much like a painting, that you add a stroke here and a stroke there until you have a finished picture on a canvas to give an overall view of what you are trying to convey

It made me wonder why they don't say anything about Pat Robertson's views or Haggee's views, not that I am criticizing anyone, mind you.  I don't think they had the right to go after anyone's pastor.  It is a totally separate issue if you ask me.  Thanks, Duke.

The media have gone after Robertson, Falwell and a whole host of televangelists and conservative preachers over the years.

This morning NPR did a whole segment on how Obama supporters in Indiana would rather focus on issues rather than what Wright's been saying. In fact, they were downright insulting about Wright.

The sad part about this is that in all the hullaballoo Wright's message and Obama's erudite invitation to a discussion about race relations in this country has been drowned out. Even Obama wants to table this discussion, and that's really disappointing.

Are gas prices really more important than Americans learning to accept each other?

  • crybabylu said on May 01, 2008....
yeah, but even the gas prices aren't getting the kind of discussion it should be given either.

Thank you Mobil, I'm hoping we will get some relief in gas prices this summer. You know how they climb in the Summer.

Whose side are they on anyway? They are supposed to be on America's side.
