that opening the refrigerator an staring into it blindly several times does not really change the contents. Something that you really want for lunch does not just magically appear.

[sigh]

I'm so not in the mood for anything we have in the house, but I am trying to be 1) frugal and not spend money by going to purchase something, and 2) avoid unhealthy fast food choices.

Thus, I'm going to go look in the refrigerator and cabinets at least one more time and hope something strikes my fancy.

So, what fabulous something is for lunch for you?

hahahah..... well I will have to go look in the fridge to see what is (isn't) there!  This is so true.. have you been watching LOL.  I think I am going to have fish fillets and c.cheese with dill weed... only cause I know its in there!

I'm trying to talk myself into that frozen pizza here at work.  Otherwise I'll make another run for the border and grow my ass some more.

I get a kick out of how Bill will complain that I don't organize the fridge when he's mad about not finding something to eat.  Like rearranging the crap in there makes it more palatable. :P

I've always suspected what you said about the fridge was true, yet I never gave up hope something new would appear if I opened the door just one more time...*sigh*...

Well, Mobil just gave me a good idea...graham crackers and cream cheese, and I told him about salami (or ham), spread with cream cheese and wrapped around a bread stick....yummy, but probably not the healthy lunch you're talking about.
Oh well.  Tuna with fat free 1000 Island, sliced tomato, black olives, cucumber for me then.
    Borrring!

Well, I ended having a chicken salad sandwich to finish off the chicken salad we had in the fridge. While not the healthiest of choices, it's a much better option than a burger and fries from a fast food place.

Twyla--I've never tried tuna with 1000 Island. I like my tuna with tabasco sauce sprinkled on it.

U-I: Well depending on the frozen pizza, you might actually be able to find a better option running for the border.

Diabolic: Hmmm...the fish sounds tempting, what kind are you having?

And I must report that the contents of my fridge did not change between the 4th opening of the door and staring in to it and the 5th. Well, except that some gogurt tubes got repositioned because they slid out of their box and dove off the shelf at my feet since the little man mangled the box in opening it.

Today: a bowl of chicken soup from a can with a green label and, I think, the word "Healthy" in its name. Also a few baked potato chips and a few bites of leftover grilled pork tenderloin. All washed down with my favorite beverage lacking in all social value: decaf diet coke.

My lunch this week: 2 tbsp flax meal, a grilled cheese sandwich on whole grain bread (40 oz. of cheese, as little margarine as I can manage and still cover the bread), and an apple.  Finished with a big mug of hot tea (splash of milk, 1.5 splenda packets).

I eat the exact same foods (well in theory, sometimes I change up a few things) Monday - Friday except that Friday at dinner I usually get fast food.  It sounds weird, but it doesn't bother me at all and it makes grocery shopping and cooking so much easier!

I have found that a nice dry white wine goes well with anything, at any time of the day!

we have mri's and cell phones, when do we get the food replicators? :-P
  • Zayda said on Apr 22, 2008....
trav: lol at the food replicators. ohhh...can they replicate the food without the calories?!?!

    skald: and isn't it frustrating?!?

Lady_Emma: indeed it does, except with perhaps cereal for breakfast.

Nyt: Yes, I suppose that would make shopping much easier. Maybe I should try that more often.

LJ: Chicken soup is my least favorite soup, so I really don't even have any in the house.

borring old ham cheese and tomato sandwhich... yuk! mostly because I couldn't be bothered at 5am to make something and wake up my husband... usually its left overs from the fridge or a coffee... trying to lose a little weight.
I'd prefer to have what lady_emma is having.

I've found Kahlua works best with cereal!

I do this ALL the time when I'm at my parents place (or anywhere else with a fridge, since I don't have one right now).. I just keep opening it and standing in front of it again and again  as if something's going to just appear!
  • starchini said on Apr 23, 2008....

lol this is a funny post! I do the same thing!  Eh, i had a salad for lunch...boring.

I wish i had a philly steak and cheese sub with a big pile of mashed potatoes and country gravy though : )  Thats what i imagined eating when i ate the lettuce : /

  • uniquely-ironic said on Apr 23, 2008....

Hey! rearranging the crap does make it look better!  Tried it last night and Bill decided to ask me to get up and make him a snack.

Note to self:  Leave fridge cluttered if you want to get any rest.

what? staring into the fridge and repeatedly opening/closing the door doesn't change the contents?!

    [stares in horror]

    i've been deceived!

I am thoroughly disgusted with myself. God above, why do I do this?...
We have had bunches of posts on food, but have we ever talked about...
On Friday i was working at the salon kinda late. Phil was waiting for me at the bar because weve started car pooling to work together. Lucky shit had to wait at the bar across the alley from the salon for 4 hrs, there just wasnt any way around it : P.....
I'm a hotel chef at the mo. Nothing special, just your usual pretencious crap - huge white plates with a tiny amount of food in the middle being overpriced. And on Satuday we had a wedding, where the guests were paying £2,625 for the food....
So, Iceiss and I are contemplating going back vegetarian.

Can I do without my turkey sandwiches? My fish? I don't know...

I do know that my body is just not meant to be vegetarian. My dancing went down, by GI t...
