I'm sitting in my Monday night class. It's called 'project management'. I am totally stone bored out of my mind!

The instructor is soft spoken and monitone, and he spends most of the class either talking about the copier install and repair company he works for, or reading the bullet points from the textbook. They could record him and sell the tapes as a natural alternative to sleeping pills!

I want to pull my eyeballs out and stretch them over the back of my head!

I HATE HATE HATE this subject! I will NEVER be a project manager! I CANNOT STAND to do paperwork, and that's all project management is. Take these people's forms and compile them into this form and hand it up the line. Figure out schedules and budgets. NOT me!

I'm getting an A in the class, because i show up and do the work, but it is so mind numbingly dull that i don't pay attention to most of it.

So what do I do to pass the time, you may ask?

I surf soulcast, of course! :-)

Passes a note to you about a party, makes fun of the instructor's pants, then blows a spit ball......hope we don't get caught goofing off in class......

Reminds me of that droning teacher on that show I can't remember, and the commercials that followed....all I remember is he hosted the short-lived game show that I liked.....I am clueless......must not have been paying attention in class.  Ha.

It seems kind of silly that you have to take a class for that.

Stick a pin on his seat! That would make the class more interesting :D

THANK YOU PICKERS! that's exactly what i was saying to the instructor before i left class! i have no idea why a degree in internet security has to have a class in project management!

Stone bored in class.. Hmmmnn.. sounds like the story of my life! If
i know its a boring class I usually sit in the back and chit chat away with my friend. Or even sleep on my desk sometimes! lol..
  • Lady_Emma said on Apr 22, 2008....
Then may I suggest, you indulge?
  • uniquely-ironic said on Apr 22, 2008....
What a dry class.  I used to have a teacher like that for US history.  I'd always get to class early and sit in the back so that if I nodded off it wasn't obvious.

dia - as did i when i was in highschool. but then, i got mostly D's, and i want A's this go round.

    lady - see above :-)

unique - our classes are small, maybe 12 people, my napping would not go unnoticed.

I'm in college.. and I do all that and still get As.. Ok maybe B+ sometimes but still! hehehe.. If you're really nice to me I'll teach you the trick.  :-D
Oh ok I just saw that our classes are made of like 12 people. Too bad man.. I can't help you there. Mine has about 60 so its a lot easier to go unnoticed. Unless you start snoring ofcourse!

des - yeah, i'm sly that way. and i'm fine, thanks for asking.
  • diabolicdame said on Apr 23, 2008....
Oh in that case maybe you should teach me some! I'd be really grateful.. I'm bored out of my mind here! lol.. Today again I was just this close to dozing off in class! We have college at 8 in the morning and I'm not a morning person! Every morning when my alarm goes off I wake up with a 'wtf!' Anyway just letting you know you're not alone! :-)

i'm in that space of the quarter where i can't bring myself to do homework! it happens right around the middle of the quarter, i start to get burned out. so i know what you're saying.

my school is only at night, so i work all day, from 8 to 5, then go to school from 6 to 10 two or 3 nights a week. makes for REALLY long days!

dude, project managers can make a good living. hold on to your notes for this class, trav. i don't know what you'll wind up doing w/ your degree, but geeks who can also do project management are generally look to for management positions--at least, IMX anyway.

yeah, i know ed. i actually started my bachelor's in TPM, thinking that very same thing. this class is what convinced me to switch to ISS. it's just not me to do that type of management, i'm too much of a hands on problem solver to want to sit around all day planning out work for other people.
  • silverwhisper said on Apr 24, 2008....
i can understand that--with some jobs, either you've got the personality for it or you don't! :>
