A few days ago my bf sent a huge 1 kg (around two pounds?) swiss chocolate cake. I was really over the moon with this. I mean he's not the romantic type of a guy and I'm really not used to gifts without any occasion from him so this was rather sweet I thought. He says he's not being romantic, just trying to replace time with money. He also says 'Damn.. I didn't think it would come to this for another five years of my life atleast!'.. haha.. I'm not complaining! That was until the cake finally arrived.
It was pretty and chocolatey (I took pictures) and it was HUGE.
I think this is where I should point out that I don't own a fridge currently. Its a long story but basically me n my roomie had a feud over who would pay what and the fidge suffered!
So at first I just thought I wuld eat nothing but the cake for a whole day every time I got hungry and finish it. Haha.. fat chance! I did that and still couldn't make much of a dent in it! So I put it in my neighbor's fridge for the night. Good idea right? It stayed there for two nights until they had to go out of town. So I got it back int he morning and thought to myself that now I just need to suck it up and eat it!
Breakfast lunch and dinner I ate the cake and nothing bu the cake. A friend came over to help but e could only eat a few peices so I had to rely on myself. I wasn't going to let it go waste. Afterall it was a present of love. But can there be too uch love? There can definitely be too much cake!
Some 40 hours later I finally finished the cake using my strategy of eating the cake and nothing but the cake. 'Bravo', I said to myself. In this moment of rejoicing I realized something. That cake stayed out in my kitchen with no fridge in this hot indian summer for 40 hours. 40 hours!! And it tasted the same and loked the same and smelled the same. It didn't go bad at all (hopefully).
So did I eat a magic cake? Or a mouldy cake and I just didn't realize it? I am desparately hoping it was the former because I ate a LOT of it. Either ways I have had my share of cake for another year or so! The things you do for love.. *BURP*
