Time is irreversable. Or so you thought. But then one day you discover that you can somehow rewind time.

So what do you do with your new-found ability? Cheat at the stockmarket? Win lotteries? Become a time-traveling tourist? Would you try to stop something from happening? Or would you try to fix something that should have?

And what happens when you learn you only have one leap left before it's gone?

I don't think I would rewind time as it would affect too many people around me if I were to change one thing or many.  I choose to live in the "now".
  • diabolicdame said on Apr 20, 2008....
I would go cheat on the lotteries and then become a world tourist. You gotta have money to be a tourist, right? Time traveling tourist is a good idea too but its too much of a risk. What if I got stuck? I've seen 'back to the future' too many times!

I think I'd cheat on all the tests I failed in school, it'd make my folks happy.

I'd give my dad a condom the day he made me and then quietly watch all memory of me disappear. I just wish this choice wouldn't effect my children; that isn't fair. So I guess I'm stuck.

I would change my life. People who tell me they wouldn't change a thing, I'm sorry, that is  not me!  I would change a lot of the choices I made.

Rewind time?  What a concept!  I have a saying that goes "should of's, could of's, would of's". We all have a past and the past is what makes us who we are today.  Isn't it sad that we live in a past that we cannot control and have hopes for tomorrow, which we cannot see?  What would we do if we could forget the past and see the future?  Wouldn't the question then be more fitting, what would you do with the now?  People need to make the past work for them instead of against.  Use the past for our benefit then living with regrets.

Don't live with regrets but with optimism.  Life is what we make of it!

Basically, I'd simply replay my life, and enjoy the nice scenes again and again.

Maybe here and there I'd try out an option I didn't take, but once I get the feeling that the consequences were leading me too far from the mainstream events of my actual life, then I'd rewind that part again and go back to my original option.

It should be a fun ride, like going through a maze and having the ability to back-track, retrace your steps, and try other paths.

    i honestly don't know.
i've been through hell and back...but the point is......i'm back.
    and hell changed me.
    for the better.
it's really hard to say......cause there are things that happened that i really wish hadn't happened....and a LOT of regrets.
i was thinking about this the other night. wishing i'd left my ex emphatically instead of the way i did...so i would have the power of that moment.
and then i was thinking....well....if i could go back how far bak is too far back?
maybe i'd just start all over at the beginning and knowing that life isn't as scary and all important as i thought it was when i was so so small.  i was SUCH a serious child and so afraid of everything. starting over at the beginning that way would lead me to a COMPLETELY different life.

If I could turn back the time, I would think like a mature person... This turning back time could be useful for me if I wanted to change something in my past life, say, six years ago... because I was immature then, so I made bad decisions which affected the whole course of my present and future life... where I am right now might not look good for other people, especially for those who knew of me...

But, I guess, I have more blessings now... I mean, I'm at the present, what can I do? Still, this idea is cool.

I am the sum of all the things that have happened to me, so I don't think I'd change the past.  Some (well, maybe a lot) of it wasn't fun, but it did help form my character such as it is.

Can I give it to someone?  I'd probably give it to someone wiser than myself.
  • Expendable said on Apr 21, 2008....
Uniquely-Ironic - You can't give this power to anyone else because you're the one that's been "charged". And you don't know enough to drag someone along with you.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Apr 21, 2008....
Okay then, I guess I'll nullify (or use) the power by going back one minute in time.  I don't think I'm cut out to figure the impact that a change in the timeline would produce.  I'd rather not have that power.
  • Expendable said on Apr 21, 2008....
You got this ability by accident. It was suppose to go to someone else.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Apr 21, 2008....
Well that's  for sure!!  No one in their right mind would give me a power like that.  (or at least no one who really knows me)  I'm not a bad person, but my powers of thinking logically are severely under developed.
  • silverwhisper said on Apr 22, 2008....
um...if all i'm doing is rewinding, rather than rewind + "recording" as it were, that means i only get to witness what has passed again, no?

i'm assuming i retain knowledge outside of the rewound span of time, as the question appears phrased in such a way as to assume that.

i'd use it to stop time entirely so i could write a whole lot more!

larger events affect many more people--that would actually scare me out of using it to become some kind of superhero, b/c there's presumably no way to know whether what i think is a good thing now remains a good thing in the future.

in the beggining of 6th grade, we had a choice to do band, chorus, or orchestra. i chose to do orchestra because when i was little i always wanted to play the violin. but i ended up playing the viola. my 2nd choice was chorus and that is what i've should've done. orchestra is so boring and i get tired carrying my instrument. so i wish i could rewind time to change my past from august 20, 2007.
  • Expendable said on May 04, 2008....
ed - You can make changes. Or you can relive the same moment over and over again, until you exhaust your new-found ability.

ztjnae - maybe you should listen to your friends in Chorus to see if they find it boring too? I envy you that you can play the viola. All I got to play was the recorder.

Wow hard one there i would go back to 5mins before my daughter died in her sleep at four days old.I would sit and wait and watch for the moment that she stopped breathing then ring for assistance and give mouth-to-mouth resusitation.Failing that i would rewind time so that i never met my partner at the bar.Just to avoid the pain that was to come.Sorry to get all heavy on you but you did ask.PEACE.
