I have almost everything I need right at my fingertips.

I'm in my sewing room.  I have two six-foot long tables pushed together to form an L.  On one side of the L, I have my sewing machine, pieces of fabric cut for a new quilt, and a portable CD player.  On the other side of the L, I have my cable TV and my computer.  In bins and piles all around me I have my quilting "stash" of fabric, and several half-finished projects.  I have my bottle of ice water and my cell phone.

Life really could not get much better.  I'm not coming out til I'm good and ready.

I wish I had a place like that - I am really wishing for an escape right now.  Soon as I pull myself together enough, it'll be me and the meditation bench trying to transcend this mess.  I used to quilt, though, and you reminded me of another possible outlet.  I could use a few patches to hold things together at the moment and sewing is such a great way to lose yourself for a while.

Good for you, Mimi!  You enjoy your quilting!

I love the "look" of quilting, and I even tried it once.  I was even good at it.  But it makes me a tad nuts.  Those tiny little stitches - just not enough "action" for me.  I knit, and crochet, and needlepoint, and paint.  As a matter of fact, I like the look of quilting so much one of my current projects is a crocheted afghan that has a quilted look to it.  (Hard to explain here, without visuals)  It's called patchwork crochet . . . see this pic to get a better idea of what it looks like.

Be sure to snap a shot of your quilt when you're done, ok?  I'd adore seeing it.

That sounds perfect. I have to put the sowing machine on a table when I use it and then pack it again. All according to this. Still I have my computer here and my books. I am happy for you :-)

    my sewing room.

I know it's pretty small -- I took it with the camera in my phone.  This is my sewing room.  You can't see it very well, but that's a quilt I made and gave to my mom.

wywh -- it's a great stress reliever for me.  The repetitive nature of cutting, sewing, and pressing is very calming.

Hi infernal, how are you doing?  You're welcome any time.

Dee -- I could happily stay in there until further notice. :)

queenie -- I'll be sure to post a pic.  :)

DD -- I'm very protective of my space.  My husband's computer is in there until we finish painting the living room, and he's in there now.  I keep wanting to go in and tell him not to touch anything.  :D

Grace -- I do knitting and some crochet as well.  Knitting is good to do while watching TV.

Mamie -- girl, I want you in there too!  We could make matching tutus.

mobil -- You're right,  You have arrived -- what more could a girl want?  :)

skald -- I didn't get a sewing room until my daughter moved out.  It's her old bedroom.  I used to have to set it up on the dining room table too.  It was always a pain to have to pack it back up again., so I know what you mean.

polarbunny -- I put a picture up for you!

AG and quiltedone, how rude and unobservant of me.

AG, would you believe I've sewn theatrical costumes before!  Can-can petticoats, the ones with all those ruffles.  It was a lot of fun.

quilted one -- yep, I finally started one.  Gotta have it finished in five weeks.  LOL

  • MissMimi said on Apr 21, 2008....

I can officially say yes to that.  With only a few minor bad words, I made some good progress yesterday.

DD -- It is nice.  It gets the morning sun and it's kinda purple.  Thanks. :)

You know what, MissM? Though I don't sew I knew exactly how you feel. What could be better than being perfectly set up like that?
