So in talking with some of my fellow movie freaks we came into a deep discussion of what is the scariest movie every made.  It is almost impossible to determine this so we came up with a top ten list.

The criteria for a movie to get on the Moviefreak's top ten list:

#1-The movie has to be scary.
#2-The movie has to have some amount of gore.
#3-The movie has to be shocking or over the top.
#4-The movie stays with you after you've finished watching it.

Here is the list of what we believe is the top ten most terrifying movies of all time:
1.  The Exorcist
2.  House of 1,000 Corpses
3.  Hellraiser
4.  Dawn of the Dead (2003)
5.  The Howling
6.  High Tension
7.  28 Days Later
8.  Evil Dead
9.  The Dentist
10. 30 Days of Night

Do you agree or disagree or do you have ideas that might bump one of these movies off the list?

Night of the Living Dead still gets to me.
I never dared to watch the sequel.

Classic and scary.  For its time it could definitely send a chill up a person's spine.

The Exorcist is my all time favorite scary movie - the only one that gave me nightmares the first time I watched it!  The newer version of Dawn of the Dead is awesome too.  I love anything Hitchcock btw.

Joyous-personally I think the Exorcist is the all time number one.  I've seen a lot of horror movies but that one just leaves me with a creepy feeling not felt on any other movie.

Secret-I saw the Howling when I was about 14 then had to go outside in the dark at night so I hear ya, only with me is was damn werewolves.
