Has anyone seen this article? This makes me so sick to my stomach. Aren't there laws against this? Yeah, it's your body, but this is sick.

I'm speechless. In fact, no. I'm not. She needs to go to prison. For a very long time. Or better yet, stoned. I may not be perfect, but I'll go first! Unbelievable, she did it to "spark discourse." Discourse my ass. She did it so people would come to see it. And she did it for 9 months.

That is pretty gross. Ultimately its her body and her choice but I would really hate to  defend her but I would.

I have no idea what to say.  I am just appalled at how little value she places on human life.  Absolutely disgusting.

While I respect the concept of protecting art from social norms I think this woman needs to get into counciling.  Art was never intended to harm a person, and despite her indifference to the health of her own body she set herself up for possible harm by doing what she did.  If she hadn't dressed it up as art and had been discovered doing this they would have found a nice padded cell to lock her up in.

I can concur that she needs counciling.  But stomach turning truth is that it should be legal to hurt yourself.  Up to and including suicide so long as you only hurt yourself.

To be honest I'm amazed that the pro-lifers aren't stringing this up all over the place, it certainly is disturbing and normally nothing gets to me, but gross.

She does need help, with that I completely agree. The sad thing is that there are people who agree that what she is doing is art. So, she's never going to think what she did was wrong...she's probably taking out the backlash as feedback on her project.

    So people are just unbelievable!

As for defending her, I don't envy the person who has to do it. The thing is, any publicity for her would be bad for pro-lifers. Because there are some nuts out there who will actually want to see this stuff. Spreading it around only brings her more attention.

But something needs to be done. The school needs to step in and do something.

There is something severely wrong with this woman. While I believe in keeping abortion safe and legal, I am repulsed by someone who would deliberately induce pregnancy and then destroy the resulting fetus. If what she did is fake it falls under the category of tremendously offensive and juvenile prank. Any way you look at it this is someone who at the very least needs psychological counseling--perhaps even commitment to a psychiatric facility. As someone with bipolar disorder, I would not say such a thing lightly. Being in a mental hospital is not enjoyable. But there are truly some individuals for whom such treatment is merited. This person sounds like she may be one of them.

What she did IS art.  That's not up for debate.  It's just really really really gross and disturbing.  I can't even fathom the kind of mine that would repeatedly and intentionally do this.  Though to be fair it does seem a bit unrealistic, or else she was abnormally tallented at getting pregnant.  I can't imagine this being bad for pro-lifers.  I mean it's so utterly disgusting that this is the kind of thing that I think could put fence sitters into one camp.  I mean hell I'm 100% pro-choice and knowing that this woman exists makes me want to give the government the right to go out and sterilize folks.

I feel bad for the girl... the fact that she's from Yale University... the alma mater of my favorite actress Jodie Foster...

One fact stays here: Not all Yale students are crazy.

Anyway, I hope the girl will realize the chaos she made for herself...  And when she does get pregnant, let's hope it is for the art of life... because life imitates art... whatever...

Whilst believe that every woman has the right to choose what to do with her body, I personally find this 'art' project disgusting.  HOW can that be considered art? What talent does it take to do that?
  • SeanRenaud said on Apr 27, 2008....
Same talent it took to piss on a cross.  Same talent it took to put black dot in the center of a white peice of paper.  Art is in the eye of the beyolder.  As gross and immoral this is if she wants to call it ard it's art.
