Barrack Obama can't seem to get out of the way of his own mouth these days. source
Do you think he is still a sure thing for the nomination?

Are you familiar with operation chaos?

Is it a factor?

I think that the media thrives on manufactured controversy rather than substantive issues myself.

I never thought he was a sure thing to be honest, but for the most part the media is attacking stupid stuff

This is clipped from D6's link:

"The underlying truth of what I said remains, which is simply that people who have seen their way of life upended because of economic distress are frustrated and rightfully so," he was quoted as saying.

Obama's thesis is that government can actually do anything to provide economic "security" to 300 million Americans. It's already being demonstrated in France of all places that is simply untrue. Cradle to grave care on our scale is plainly unsustainable and yet this is Obama's main 'solution".

Yes, economic downturns hit the poor the hardest. That's one of the main reasons why the engine must be kept humming. But are raising taxes on "the wealthy" going to accompllish that? Will bailing out millions of people who bought homes well out of their price range accomplish that? I doubt it. Will pulling our troops out of Iraq and handing over the 2nd largest oil fields in the world to God knows who accomplish that? If you think yes, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Yet again, the Democrats have raised an incredibly wealthy man to play class warfare with the poor and rip off the middle class and small business owners. He may be brighter, more articulate, and more sensitive sounding, but in the final analysis he's just another leftist trotting out the same old leftist solutions.

John Kerry in a better fitting suit.

TS.....what is manufactured in this case?

Sean.....do you think the media is having second thoughts about Obama?

Curm.....I couldn't agree more....and those are the bigger issues really....but isn't it interesting that many Americans don't get that and didn't get it in the 1st place!
    Socialism would cripple America!
It's too bad that it has to come down to the dirty little details to make people think twice about sending someone like Obama into the most important job in the world!
And at such a pivotal time in history.

I think you guys are paranoid for starters.  Obama wouldn't make our country socialist anymore than Bush brought us lassiez-faire capitalism.  So you're really much bitching over nothing.  It's like refusing to vote Ron Paul because you don't agree with him that we should return to the Gold Standard.  Such a thing would never and could never happen so if you agree with him on everything BUT the fact that he thinks pigs can fly why are you worried?

I don't think the media is turning on Obama.  I think that the modern concept of media is faulty.  It's not a bunch of liberals trying to destroy the church.  It's not bunch of white guys trying to hold minorities down.  It's a bunch of guys who love money and are going to say and do whatever they think will drive ratings.  They don't report on Britney Spear's crotch shots because they hate her and it's also not because they want her to get help.  The basic premise here is to make money.

If I believed in the monolithic media as is claimed to exist by the right I would say that they believe Obama has already won and there is no harm in what they are doing and better them, than McCain.

Course I reject the idea of The Media, just like I reject the idea that all the rich peolpe in the world got together, invented a car that runs off of human piss but destroyed the only model, so they could keep selling oil.  Doesn't stop the left from believing it to be fact.
  • D6fer said on Apr 15, 2008....
paranoid? You don't think that if Obama or Clinton get in AND there is a democrat controlled Congress, that universal health care will become an irreversible reality?

I agree with you as it pertains to Iraq....neither Hillary or Obama are going to pull out like they originally said they would....and in Obamas case...I find that especially dishonest.....he was the most adamant about it.

The media is clearly liberally biased...if you can't see that, you're blind....there have even been polls taken on media.....they are overwhelmingly liberal....of course money does affect what gets play....even the huffington post....they were first to break this story about Obama.

I love that last line about the car that runs on human piss! lol  would that be a Mercedes P class? ;)

    1.  I'm not sure that universal health care is a bad thing.  I'll see if I can't dig up the exact stats on it but the fact is that we already pay more money per person than countries that have universal health care.  The reason is simple btw.  See in other countries you get care when you say hey I have this odd pain in my chest.  In America we wait until you've actually had the heart attack.  The bottom line is that until and unless you can convince the average american that we should check people for inssurance/money when 911 is called for an emergency it is probably cheaper to try to keep people from having those issues to begin with.  It's not bleeding heart liberal here, you know me well enought o know that isn't me.  This is dollars and sense.

    2. Duh, neither of them will or can pull out that fast.

    3.  The media is only baised if you think that it is.  I've seen most of the polls not to mention absorbed plenty of media.  Sure you can pull an ALIEN and tell me how movies and tv make it seem to be ok to be gay.  But last I checked the majority of cartoon heroes still stand for truth, justice and the American way.  They aren't liberal, they aren't conservative they merely are.  What lean there is towards liberal is largely a result of the fact that liberals are attracted to certain sectors.  It's like how women make less money than men.  Well it's because women go to college to become teachers.

I agree with you here....somewhat...but I don't think that this is purely by accident....I believe that liberals 1st took control of our universities (my black helicopter moment)
And have been brainwashing the youth in this country for the last 40 some years.
Political activism is encouraged strongly on the college level, and liberal professors no doubt encourage many young liberal people to enter the media, and most likely discourage and even hamper the progress of the openly conservative students.

You can show me all of the stats you want......all the proof I need is the seudo universal coverage that exists currently due to all of the insurance that unions made people feel that they were "entitled" to.....people with the best insurance abuse it......they take their kids to the hospital for a sniffle.
If you take the lid off this sucker....we will all be waiting in long, long lines.....and not getting proper care....it is happening in canada....it will happen here.
  • SeanRenaud said on Apr 16, 2008....
Would you rather be waiting in a long line and saving money and living longer or be able to walk right in any time you want, but not being able to afford it so instead of going in for an infection you have to wait until its gangrene?  Cus that's the current way we do things.  Maybe universal healthcare isn't the right answer but our current plan is worse.
  • TinSoldier said on Apr 16, 2008....
Heck, even if you can afford it you have to wait in a long line.
  • D6fer said on Apr 16, 2008....
The problem is that it is not being reported what is happening in these other countries that have universal healthcare......the problem is not with initial consultation....it's with the follow up treatment....people are dying from cancer in Canada because they can't receive treatment in time.

I heard recently That Denmark was supposedly the happiest place on Earth.....I guess having the highest taxes and suicide rate makes people incredibly happy.....or maybe it's the out of control Alcoholism?

Murtha is unfit for government......
Are you reading this? or are you still concerned about the welfare of terrorists?...
It seems to me that the divisive methods of the Republican and Democrat parties have now consumed so much of our time and resources, that reform of our parties is greatly needed.......While I may spend 99% of my energy pointing out the problems I see...

We should mean what we say, but that will not happen as long
as Democrats run things.
