short versions: ebay is piloting accepting only paypal for payments in its australian site; flickr is adding short (90 sec, 150 mb max) videos. long versions here (ebay/paypal) and here (flickr/video).

commentary: has ebay gone stupid? with all the problems that paypal’s had, why? and i always wondered why flickr wouldn’t accept anything but still images—maybe they finally have the server space to meet the anticipated space such files would demand?

Ed- I used to cruise ebay and buy rare books and maps, still do sometimes. I always paid with international money order. I noticed in the comments a guy said paypal was doing this because they own it. Perhaps Australia is the testings ground for doing this everywhere.

i think it's pretty clear that's precisely what it is, myself. an international money order, huh? and you've had good experiences using 'em, i take it?

Good for Flickr; boo to eBay. I'm already pretty pissed at some of the recent changes to eBay anyway, to the point that I no longer use its services.

you know, i've never actually used ebay, but i do know enough about paypal to know that ebay's decision is fantastically suboptimal. :>
