tulips and trees

Nothing spectacular to say.  Just wanted to share the tulips I picked up at Trader Joe's yesterday while grocery shopping.  They look nice on my desk by the copy of my gramma's redwoods picture.  Don't you think?

PBW - Thank you.  It's part of my new years resolution to treat myself better :)
  • PAPERBACKWRITER said on Apr 09, 2008....

Speaking of treating yourself better, how was George in the movie!? I was having system failures and could only read about your week-end and not comment. . .sorry about the ermmm misunderstandings. . .but how was the movie?

    : )

I was a little underwhelmed.  I thought with him and Renee who has been a strong actress in the past that it would be better.  It was okay, but more like waiting for the DVD good.

I did fall in love with the women's wardrobes of that time period again.  It's sad when you go see such a sexy actor in a movie and the best thing about it was the cute hats and dresses.
  • PAPERBACKWRITER said on Apr 09, 2008....

I had to giggle over your remark on cute hats and dresses!  I love period films because of the wardrobe too. . .So, the romance between George and Renee in the film was not sizzling? Just asking, if I should skip borrowing it when I go to the video shop?  I am a sucker for romance in a film :D

Btw, did you blog about your grandma´s redwood picture? I must´ve missed it? Do  you have a link perhaps?

I think it's worth a rental at the store.  I paid movie theater ticket price, which was more than I would have liked to spend had I known it would be underwhelming.  The romantic scenes were pretty vanilla.  I didn't buy it.

    I did post a blog about gramma's picture. http://www.soulcast.com/post/show/118673/Hidden-Surprise

I think in this picture you can see the nice sepia tone of it much better than the black and white scan I did of it.

What lovely color. They are absolutely wonderful.

oh i can't wait to see some tulips in my yard!
  • uniquely-ironic said on Apr 09, 2008....

    batty - thanks

skald - yes, I was drawn to this color.  I almost picked pale pink, but this seemed more friendly.

SL - sadly, I don't have a back yard.  These will do nicely.

unique- Looks nice, although that pic in a nice complimenting frame would make it all look much better. I don't know if you've ever done it, but you can buy a frame, some mat and do it yourself. I've done many, its not difficult, just a little time consuming.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Apr 09, 2008....
BTV - I had the original custom matted and framed.  This is a color copy I made of the original before I had it framed.  I didn't want to leave the original at work.  It's not worth a lot of money, but sentimental value-wise it's irreplaceable.

That's a very nice picture. I love the contrast between the vase of flowers and the massive, massive trees.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Apr 09, 2008....
Alyss - I wasn't sure what pleased me about it, but you're right about the contrasting size of things.

This picture looks just like a greeting card, Uni...that's what I thought it was when it opened...a pretty greeting card.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Apr 09, 2008....
Twirly - I could see that.  They're even nicer in person.

I love what you did with that picture! It fits in so well with the background and with the tulips and the leaf.

oooooooooooooooohh!   beautiful!   I love tulips, but they are so delicate.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Apr 10, 2008....

TS - You're the first person to mention the leaf.  I may buy a mat to go around the picture, but not right now.

gentlepie - I am lucky to have so much space to work with.  That, and I'm a master at shoveling my work into drawers.

CW and Soleme - I'm a tulip fan too.  These caught my eye because they are such a deep shade of purple and petite.
