The page you were looking for no longer exists

this entry is dedicated to those guys that most of us don't know yet.

there's a great feature to soulcast that you might not know about: the most recent page. it's next to the my conversations button and when you press it, you see exactly that: every blog post in chronological order, starting with the most recent.

using this feature, who have you found? i know i saw a comment by eviltwin recently that interested me and when i saw he had a new blog today, i knew i wanted to check him out: ditto, quidnunc.

i've been trying to make it my mission to find relative newcomers to soulcast. the more vibrant this community becomes, the more we are all enriched by it, i say.

I always use the Most Recent tab. I think visiting newcomers helps them to feel welcomed and more inclined to write. It helps out little community stay alive! PinkJellyBeans

this is the best welcome message i have ever read here in soulcast. this may probably the first and only(i may be wrong though) welcome message written by one of the most popular members of soulcast... i am a newbie here (and to online communities in general) and i thank you, silverwhisper, for your magnanimity and kind soul. you are a gentleman in the highest order.

Thanks for the info you gave to new soulcast members like me who hope to be visible in the community. I really do think you are the first to have cared about new timers. Thanks for caring.

I have been at SoulCast for about 3 days and I didn't expect to be noticed so fast. url=http://www.soulcast.com/JadeLondon/]JadeLondon responded to my first post and left me some advice and then I got a couple of comments on some other posts too. So I would like to thank you all for trying to encourage the newcomers.
  • narbeha1983 said on Aug 09, 2006....
That is great advice. I am going to try this recent button.

I have seen a number of posts by newbies asking what it takes to get popular and what makes a good blog. I am a huge fan of the 'recent' button--that is how I find new souls. And I always try to pass the message on. Silver, you left that legacy to me--when you welcome me on my very first day. I know what I get out of this place. It is an obsession, a cultish feeling. I do want others to know about how great this place is. Thanks for bringing it to the forefront. FireStar88: Just continue the legacy. :)

I've been a user of SoulCast for a couple of days now... And so far, I've been reading posts by all you popular users, who are great. I thank silverwhisper (for the post) and the other users that have commented here, for giving such a warm welcome to new users. I'm a newbie, and frankly, I'm really shy, so I don't how it is that I've ended up here. But, so far, I love the spirit of diversity and unity that this community has. I think I'll stay here and enjoy it.

I did that the other night, I mean looked for people who are not in the popular circle. I was surprised at how many people there were whose blogs were not getting any views or comments. I wrote a blog about it comparing SoulCast to the Solar System.
  • yankee328 said on Aug 09, 2006....
thanks for that. i came across someone who had an interesting comment and i had to post back to them. so everyone should just start browsing around! : )

When I first learn about blogs, I am not interested. What will I write? Who will read my contents? are my questions. I am sure none because I'm a lousy writer. I'm not good in english, my grammar is going nowhere but when I come across soulcast I got interested because there are so many interesting topics I can relate to. I first go to those with zero views, (so that they can have views), know for sure if I did write I will be like them. Then I came across write ups of soulcast, it's necessary to read his posts coz it's were the basics here lies. Then Silverwhisper (thanks to you too), and found out it seems easy to adapt. Since then whenever I log in here, am looking to SW's article, then the others whom becomes my favorite. When you participate (meaning giving comments), I learned that other users get to know you and also read on your blogs. I am checking on popular bloggers and then go to the last page.

Thanks, silverwhisper, for blogging this content. I'm also a newbie here and grouping around in this 'space'. Still trying to get the hang of blogging. And hello everyone out there in this 'space', lets get to know each other through this wonderful means. Take care.

Yea I think I will hit that most recent tab, daily and make some newbies feel welcome, nothing worse than no one reading or commenting on what you write!

guys, really, don't thank me: i remember when i was new to this place. it really wasn't all that long ago, a hair over a month ago or so. but if you really want to thank me, you can thank me best by using the my tags button to find posts by others on topics that are of interest to you, too. most of my posts wind up on the featured list. that means that you can always find my stuff. let's see about getting some other folks there, huh? :> ed
  • hotaka said on Aug 10, 2006....
silverwhisper, you of all people need not worry about the featured list. Everybody loves you. You are a gentleman, a diplomat, an ambassador, and... what's that word for a person who loves people? Damn my dropping out of college! And you are good at getting people together for discussions.

SW: You are worthy of the title the most popular Soulcaster and may I add humility to your virtues. You have shown yourself to be a true leader as you have gone out of your way to make the newcomers feel much welcome. Your hospitable act of welcoming newcomers is what makes Soulcasters very different from other blog sites. The sincerity to help one another and make them part of our new extended online families is what really makes Soulcast quite special. In this regard, may I invite our newcomers to visit the following links below for your useful orientation to make your visit here at Soulcast more productive. 1. hotaka: that's kinda my point, though: everyone can see my posts all the time: there's no need to go and look for 'em. and that doesn't interest me. what does interest me is people seeing other people's posts. :> FD: i'm glad you linked those. i meant to do that myself! and i don't understand, what previous comments? :> seriously folks: i appreciate the compliments but this isn't about me: it's about people that you don't see all over the place. ed

SW: At first, I couldn't tell how the newbies would react whether postive or negative, if you posted this kind of blog. But I really thought it was a magnanimous act for the most popular Soulcaster to go out of his way to welcome the newbies. I merely echoed their sentiments and as you can fairly see by now, I'm the type of blogger who really speaks my mind out, sometimes too frank for comfort. I give credit where credit is due and criticize if it need be. IMHA (In my honest assessment), the most popular Soulcasters share outstanding personal traits. Their blogs merely reflect their character whatever that may be. But those whose character shines or excels are etched in their personal blogs such as SW and HBC. For the benefit of the newbies, this is my advice, just be your real self and let your true character shine here at Soulcast. Everyone will have their chance to shine as each one is particularly unique and have something important to say. Your greatness whatever that may be will soon be noticed. Blog on bro! :)

One thing I do is to go and read the blogs of people that are new to me that have commented on my blog. I find some interesting blogs that way and I always try to leave a comment. Blogging gets quite addictive for me. (smile) Welcome to everyone.

    Thanks Silverwhisper,

It's nice to find that others think about this. It's always nice to set the viewed marker and know that others ahve read one's works. Comments or no, I just like knowing that people are reading me at times. Sometimes I don't really think about it.

I made a point of making my way deep into the "most recent" pages over the last few days. I made it to page 48 out of 942. heh, that's a lot of reading. Oh and I also managed to locate a few of the really disturbed folks in the process. Glad to know we've got all our bases covered on the scale of wordsmiths to sicknutjobs in here.

    Cheers,
    sc

I'm thankful for all my SC friends. :-) So to pay tribute I will make the turkery, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. You can bring a side dish or dessert.

All are welcome.
