Well, I guess this is what its all about...... the kids!  We went to Chef Mickey's one night for dinner buffet with the charactors and autographs.  I think it was the only afternoon it didn't rain.
Sad to say, the 4 days we were there it rained every afternoon from about 2pm or so on.  It thundered and lightning too.  They closed some events, and we never did get to see any of the light shows or the fireworks.  We went back to our resort and they had even of course had to close the pool!
We did however, enjoy this night here.  We saw Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The buffet was excellent too.

We went on some ride in a shell that told the story about "Finding Nemo".  My youngest grandson liked that.  We then went and saw all the fish in the aquarium after the ride.

This is one of the fish we saw... I have no idea what it was, but thought it to be pretty cool looking.

Now I am home... and what is that I hear?  Ah.... the sound of silence!!! Gotta love it!

  • quietone said on Apr 07, 2008....
mobil ~ yes, back to the colder climate as well.  Even if it was nice here today... it was way warmer there.  I didn't see too many old people there, but I sure have seen enough kids for a while!!  LOL

that is a lionfish- sometimes they're called turkeyfish or dragonfish.
    they're salt water-
    and their spines are venomous.

sorry about the rain.  i've only had one disney vacation where it rained most of the days we were there.  i just remember plastic yellow ponchos stuck to my skin-
    yuck!
  • quietone said on Apr 07, 2008....
secret ~ I am glad someone knew what this thing was (fish).  Yes, I bet that place made a killing on those little plastic ponchos in the last 4 days at over $7 a piece!!  No, I didn't get one for that very reason.. by the time I got out of that "plastic bag" I'd have been wet anyway from sweating.  thanks for the link.  :)

Welcome home again dear Quiet. What disappointments, rain when you are going in the sun, closed pool, no fireworks and Light show but the pictures are great. I am sure my grandkids like to go in the shell and listen to the story of Nemo, only they don't speak English yet. I love the pictures of the boys and the fish there is so pretty.

queenie ~ I think the kids enjoyed what the did see.  And they are too young to know what they missed.. the place is just too big!  thanks

skald ~ my oldest grandson got me to go on a rollercoaster with them.  I don't like rides, but had to go because there was no way that the daughter could handle both kids waiting in line for 40 minutes.  The ride wasn't so bad and the kids just loved it... then we went to dinner with the characters after. Glad to be home though.

Hi Quietone!! So nice to have you back, but I can see you did have fun even if it did rain!  Our friends' son is still there for another week.  They are staying with another family in a villa, which has its own pool. . .so I'm sure that has been a help when it rained.  I must ask "G" to ask his son about the rain and if it has spoiled it for them a bit.  Sorry it messed with all your plans :(

I loved all your photos and I think the last one is really stunning!!  Cant wait to hear more about your trip!

    Love Polar

It sounds like you guys had a nice time, despite the rain. The last time I went to Disneyworld, it rained every day too, but they never shut anything down. We just walked around in ponchos! They didn't close the pools either, but me and my brother almost got struck by lightning out there. So maybe that's why they decided not to leave them open anymore?

Thanks for showing your pictures. That fish is pretty cool!

polar ~ hi ya dear friend.  I tried to listen for that accent.... hehe... I am sure I heard it, but it was where I was staying so I doubt if it was "G".  gee..too bad.  I bet it was nice the day we left and from now on!  Well at least the kids had fun for part of each day. and they did get 14 autographs from the charactors.. thats pretty good.
  • quietone said on Apr 08, 2008....
e.t. ~ I bet Disney make a fortune on those ponchos last week too!  LOL!!  Make up for not selling anything else cause of the rain!  Yes, some of the storms were close and had warnings out on the tv about flooding and severe thunderstorms... so yes, I believe that is why they closed everything.  my grandson is afraid of thunderstorms.. the younger one isn't afraid of anything.

That fish is freaking awesome. What a cool creature! I'm sorry it was so rainy while you were there.

I'd love to take little one to see the princesses she's so obsessed with someday. :) It sounds like the kids had a great time.

Awwww , I think you all made the best out of the vacation - despite of the rain!

The picture of the boys with Mickey is the one I liked best!  The boys both looked fulfilled and content :) . . .they are so adorable!

How old are they again quiet?

I am so glad you are back again!

Quiet.........oh, i love that big blue lionfish.....its one of my favorite fish actually........what the coincidence.....

I am glad you had fun and you are back to tell us about it.

Your disaventure reminded me of my visit to Sea World in San Antonio. My friend Niki was here visiting us from Italy and we drove her around half Texas...Sea World and Alamo couldnt be missed.....

Only problem.......it rained all day long....so we had to buy those blue ponchos with  Shamu on it....from the pics it looks like we were turned in some kind of  ballooned blue popsicles......lol..

Luckily the rain stopped just in time for having our dinner at the edge of the pool where Shamu was swimming.......we have been able to take a pic with her.....  my daughter was out of her skin for the excitment...:-)..

Hello paper ~ always nice to see you too!! The kids are 5 and 8.  Yes they loved meeting the charatctors and getting their autographs.  they were a big timid at first but learned it was "okay" to give them a hug!  LOL  (I'm glad I'm back again too)
  • quietone said on Apr 08, 2008....
Ginger ~ I had never seen a lionfish.. they are awesome!  But thanks to the info secret left.. I guess they are a good fish to just enjoy from a distance!  LOL  Yes, I have been to the Alamo.. took a pic and left!  I didn't care for San An very much.  It was way too hot.  I did love the river walk though.. it is so pretty down along there!  I am glad you all got to see shamu!  :)  I have been lucky enough to see shamu's cousins in the wild in Washington.  Always good to see you :)

quietone: i love that picture of your grandsons (grandsons? really? wouldn't have guessed you had 'em!) with mickey--they're good-looking kids! the older one reminds me of my nephew c, it looks like they're around the same age!

that's a shame about the storms but it looks and sounds like you guys managed to have a good time all the same. :>
