  I know how these projects can spread. They're like a reverse cancer, improving rooms by spreading from one part to the other. Last fall I did the same basic project of painting the living room/dining room space. Painting led to throwing out the old window treatments in favor of something much more spare and up to date. Since I had to tear out some of the baseboard molding now it's time to consider whether we'll just replace the baseboard molding all the way around or go with completely new molding in oak to replace the ugly and beat up painted white woodwork. With 9 doors and 6 windows in the affected space, that would be a couple miles of millwork to be replaced. We'll see.

  LJ and ss -- Ah, yes.  Baseboard molding.  We discussed replacing that too.  I have the feeling that that is a little beyond mrMimi's capabilities.  Yes, now that the draperies are down, I've decided they need to be updated anyway.  Our living room window is over 9 feet long, and presents a few design dilemmas.  Looks like we'll have an empty living room for a week or two.  This all has to be finished though by April 25.  In-laws arriving.

  Libido?  What's that?  ;)

  Mimikins!  I think Mr. Daily moved into your house.  LOL! 
  Use caution, these projects tend to move into the next room and the room after and the room next to that one.  I've been living in it for 3 years after the house was gutted and already re-done.  There's still more to be done according to Mr. Daily!  It's a living hell after a while.

  Mimi...oh my gosh.....you hubby sounds exactly like my ex hubby....once finished with one project he would immediately attack another one...lol.....i used to call him Duracell.....lol...

  Luckily he did the big sunroom and guest bathoom remodeling while i was in Italy one summer..... ....i went back and in one mont that man - ALL BY HIMSELF- tore down the walls of the sunroom, opened a new space, painted, installed new tile floor and new plantation shutters, bought  me a bidet while redoing the shower and the sink of the bathroom, painting and plumming included.

  Dont worry about it....let him play.......you will enjoy it after its over...:-)

  Why don't we put a dormer upstairs, and while we're at it, we'll turn the staircase around to face the front door.

  I'm afraid things are not going well in the quest for a fresh coat of paint.  A lot of the old paint, and I mean a lot, had bubbled up, and it came off in big flakes.  (Not for the first time, I want to throttle the people who owned this house before we did.)  I feel so bad for mrMimi because he worked very hard over the weekend, and got more and more frustrated.  It's to the point where he is considering calling a professional to come and do the job.  I also feel bad for me because he is not exactly little mrHappyFace at the moment.
   
  Meanwhile, I still have a totally barren living room and dining room.

  Just taking a gander...are you painting over oil based paint and not using oil based paint? I know you're not supposed to do that but don't know if it bubbles if you do.

  Sometimes Guys just need a change and at least its the house he wants to change. A midlife redecoration is better than a midlife young hottie isn't it? LOL. Seriously, take advantage of the changes. It will brighten your outlook on life in the long run...

  Things are going much better -- the ceiling got done, and the walls are almost done.  I'm ordering the new carpet today and if the gods are with us, it will be installed by the end of the week.  I have a big monster window, over 9 feet wide, to buy new drapes for, but so far I haven't seen anything that I really like. 
   
  I have hope that the end's in sight.  I hope.

  I came home from book group yesterday evening to find that my husband had replaced our bathroom door!  It's not finished yet, with mostly some trim work left to be done, but it's usable.
