anyone here ever watch anime or cartoons? i did when i was a kid. those were eons ago when watching the smurfs actually made sense. hehehehe. for sometime i thought ive outgrown watching cartoons until the arrival of avatar: the last airbender. what in the world is an avatar, you might ask. or an airbender. hmmm.. patience my dear. answers are coming. :)

 

avatar is a series on nickelodeon that is set in an alternate world where four nations represent the four elements (air, water, earth, fire). in this alternate world, we see flying bisons, and benders--people from each nation that can actually manipulate the elements with movement-specific actions (waterbending actually make use of tai chi). the series opens with the four nations in chaos--the earth kingdom and the water tribes join forces to defeat the ruthless fire nation which set out to conquer the other three nations a hundred years ago. its a hundred year conquest that left the air nomads with only a sole surviving citizen--the avatar who managed to escape by encasing himself in an iceberg. the avatar in the matrix parlance, is the one, equivalent to neo, who can restore balance to the world. the problem is he is just a 12 year old kid who just started his lessons in bending and hasnt even begun mastering the other three elements besides air. hehehe.. am i making sense? well, suffice it to say that this series touched on the inner kid in me and made me wide-eyed again, anticipating for new episodes. :)
