Ok....so I had to go to Hood River yesterday, and it was snowing! yes...snow....I know it's almost april....but yeah....snow....at near sea level!....global warming my ass!
Anyway.....I was coming back home, and have to go over a mountain pass....not a bad one usually.....there was less than an inch of snow on the ground and the gravel trucks were out....so not too bad to drive on......I was tooling along doing about 50 I guess, and was about a half mile from the summit, when all of a sudden the van I was driving started getting squirley on me and veered into the oncoming traffic lane!
I had about 30 yards between me and a head on collision (maybe 2 or 3 seconds), so I steer into the slide and then try to bring it back into my lane....well the back end just slid around (this is when I thought it would flip!) so I hit the brakes and luckily it just pulled me straight to the edge of my lane!
Like nothing happened, I just whipped it around and went on my way.
Had I went off on the opposite side of the road, I would have gone down an embankment that was about 50 to 75 feet down...then into trees and boulders.
I am either very lucky....or someone was watching over me!

I think both, some luck and yes I think God was looking after you. I hate that path. JR and I used to try to take one by there in the Big Truck. I can't remember which road now, but it was the one that truckers could use to get around there, and I hated it everytime it snowed. Glad you are all right! -

OMG you had me worried as i read then laughing as you explained all came out well . ( except that mess in your pants ) It happens so fast and now with climate change ( new way the nature nazi's refer to G/W ) even a cold snowy winter is cause we bad , evil , americans burn oil ! Give me a break ! ! ! ! The world has been changing climate for billions of years and we have NOTHING to do with it . So lets drill for our own oil and build more refinery's and turn up the heat in our homes and buy big gas guzzelers and i will leave my big stinky truck run when in the truck stop .
Glad your ok and next time slow down a little more . I was out there in Feb. and there was alot of rain near portland and snow over cabbage and all the way to Cheyenne . Sand

D6......I had a similar scare years ago...on an iced road......in Texas! Yeh...let's talk about craziness..
I had been able to reposition my car just few seconds before another one that was coming right toward me started to swirl in front of me...
Funny, its the second time today i mention this episode....i told about it in Eviltwin's post about green cars curse....

Well thank God everything went well and your ok but honestly don't you want to contribute some money to Al Gore so that he can change the world back to a normal enviroment and maybe pick up one of his movies on global warming? If you don't he may not be able to buy that larger enivironmentally friendly house next year.
I'm just kidding , I believe that the Earth goes through different cycles that we have no control over.

Global warming is bringing on all the snow and cold weather ... according to the greenies, I bet. Maybe it is the day after tomorrow. I did not understand that one either. I think the deal is, the weather is going haywire and it is all Man's fault, no matter what the temperature (wink wink). 50 mph on a slick hillside? You need counciling.

glad you are alright as well, yesterday my daughter had a life-threatening accident at home...she was alone...I was across the ocean, I just held my newborn granddaughter and cried. our family says "be in your body", instead of "be careful" because we like to keep it positive...sounds like you were in yours enough to pull through it..I know that road very well and have been on it during times when it was raining ice! moved to hawaii after that ;) -
