The page you were looking for no longer exists

Back then, you can't wait to get away from the gang at lunchtime. Every moment you have is spent at the job or the job at home. You needed time for yourself, which was a valid health requirement.

Now, you felt the need to belong, not that you want friendship, but you felt it is essential for a harmonious working relationship. You miss the old building, the unnamed familiar faces, some of whom, you exchange nods with. You needed that kind of warmth, no expectations, just plain comfort.

It's time to befriend the new florist, the new dry-cleaning lady, the lotto agent and the crew at the coffee shop, bookstore, pizza deli, and even the grocer. If only bank accounts can be easily closed, you probably would have changed banks as well.

Within a short driving distance are the post office, gym, and the arts and crafts store. Up to now, you haven't outgrown your love for colorful paper, pens, crayons, and scissors. But you don't want to spend your lunch hour going there and back. Sixty minutes, when you're having fun, is too short.

A year ago, just when you were getting used to your then-new surroundings, you were told of the coming change again. Physically, you moved on, but your heart was not with it. Until now, you're measuring things up. All of a sudden, you missed the dirty subways, which you found out, were actually sanitized at midday.

Sometimes, there are surprises, like tulips in September. And lavender hyacinths as well. Sure, your head aches. Fragrant that they were, they can be pungent if they're near you all day. But that's the only unexpected surprise you have received so far, so you're not complaining.

Meanwhile, you are thankful. You know everywhere you go, things will never be perfect. So you want to make everything work out well. Despite being in a limbo, you are not simply afloat. You are standing tall counting blessings.
