short version: this weekend, tampa bay will apparently host a weekend-long “porn camp” in which attendants will learn how to make their own porn movies from an actor in adult films—after shelling out US $4,000 a head. long version here.

commentary: the article actually goes into some detail, which i found rather surprising, to be honest—most fark stories, IMX, are 3 paragraphs, tops.

so, what are you doing this weekend? :D

p.s.: yet again, i'm forced to wonder why fark has a florida tag but still now california tag...WTF?!

Not going to porn camp, that's for sure. :-D (Though that would make for an interesting post after the fact, I bet...:-p)

I have no idea if we have any real plans for Sun/Mon. I know tomorrow we're having company (surprise! I just found out via email) - couple who are friends of MIL and FIL just got back from visiting them in Germany, and MIL cheerfully informed me she thinks "they're dropping by [our] place Saturday to bring a few surprises for the kids." So tonight...cleanup. Again.

The more I think about trying to entertain this affluent couple we have nothing in common with, the better pr0n camp sounds. :-D

Hm.....I'm most definitely not going to a porn camp.

I wrote about what I'm doing this weekend here.

Saturday is just going to be a day of chilling.  Sunday we are going to spend the day with G & C just visiting, eating, playing with the kids and just getting to know each other better.

What are you going to do, Ed?

Nothing as interesting as that will be.  I'll probably do a little shopping for hoof covers (shoes) for the boy and I've been asked to go take a picture of a gravestone by a geneaology site.
  • crybabylu said on Mar 28, 2008....

I am going to be spending some time with cindylu this weekend, and of course my grandson.  He is playing in a piano ricital 60 miles away from our town.  I love his playing, it soothes my soul. Thanks for asking, hope you have a good weekend too.

  • Alyss said on Mar 28, 2008....
Not going to Tampa is for sure! < g >

I'm having my haircut tomorrow and then it'll be chores, grocery shopping, helping the kids with their homework (just how do you get a 9 year old to 'get' time?), my own school work and possibly, just possibly some time to read my new book.
  • vacantmind said on Mar 28, 2008....

Hubby will be home from England. So, I will be sifting through pictures and listening to his adventures.

I won't be going to be porn camp :-(

  • fearing said on Mar 28, 2008....
Add me to the list of people NOT going to Tampa!  But you weren't surprised at that announcement were you Ed?

Scooter Bug and I have been invited to my friend's house for a cookout tonight.  I love going there.  I call it the 3-ring circus.  The girls will cook, talk and laugh.  The kids will ride bikes, play in the woods, and run wild.  The guys will stand around shooting the breeze, and exaggerate all sorts of tales.  Sounds like fun huh?  ;-)  I've been looking forward to it all day but I'm super tired and yucky feeling.  I took a nap when I got home and haven't bounced back yet.

No plans for Saturday and church takes up most of Sunday.   So, that about covers it.

What are you doing this weekend?
  • beyondtheveil said on Mar 28, 2008....
Ed- I always have the outside grilling bug really bad after winter. That takes care of one day. My wife has Monday off, so I'm taking her to another city to a rather exclusive restaurant where we have one meal free.

I didn't notice you telling of your weekend. Going to Tampa Bay?
  • Expendable said on Mar 28, 2008....
Spring's here. It's time to clean up the place. Scrub down walls, you know.
  • Eilan said on Mar 28, 2008....
No porn camp for me, either.

I visited my grandma in the CCU this evening; then I stopped in to see my other grandmother.  Tomorrow, Daughter #2 has dance, soccer practice and a birthday swim party/sleepover (which reminds me--I need to buy her a new swimsuit before 4:00 tomorrow).  I doubt if I'll make it back to the hospital this weekend, as I'm hosting my book group on Sunday and CCU visiting hours are extremely limited.  At some point I need to get in frantic cleaning mode, but I'm too stressed out to be motivated to clean or cook.  My guests can eat frozen vegetarian lasagna and like it.

  • skald said on Mar 28, 2008....
Just doing  things  like always. Nothing spectacular. Amway there was to be a porn contention here and the hotels canceled all the reservations that had been made. No one wanted them here and of course they said they would sue but since then I have not heard at thing. The convention never took place and I am sure that most of us did not want it to take place here.

Oh, and I should have also mentioned that I still have to finish my book-group book.  I'm not liking it much.
  • hotaka said on Mar 28, 2008....
$4000 a head? That's an expensive blow job! Or do they mean... Oh, I see.

Reading the article makes me think the following:
As a species the human race is on the threshold of pushing itself into a new paradigm where technology and biology will combine through nanotechnology, and later possibly picotechnology and femtotechnology. There are people inventing machines and developing technology that will within a couple of decades lead to a single laptop computer that can perform in a second the number of computations equivalent to the entire thought history of all human brains in the last 10,000 years. This sounds mind boggling at first but since about 90% of those biological computations all relate to sex the feat is not as grand as it would first seem.

Question: Do most people have nothing else better to do than watch other people having sex?

It is indeed a micro-percentage of the total thinking capacity of all human brains that actually advance the human race. Everyone else is too busy masterbating.

pickers: that something that came up--was it mr. pickers? :D

    [ducks]

    bluegum: hey, happy hunting!

infernal: gee, thanks mom for the heads-up, eh? yeesh...the mrs and i have been running ragged the past few weeks with family obligations and the like so i can symathize! and somehow, i have a sneaking suspicion that the camp sounds more interesting than you might care to say... :D

CW: [chuckle] so what is it you'll be doing after all, then?

    grape: bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

super z: that sounds like tons of fun! i hope you guys are having a good time! :>

polar: relaxing is always good, and that's sorta the plan for us this weekend--although we might take a visit to our supermarket and play food tourism at the cheese counter there. :D

u-i: heh...well, "interesting" is a word with o so many meanings, isn't it? :D you've mentioned this genealogy site once or twice before: how'd your interest in the subject start?

dee: you'll be spending time with family, and that's always a good thing for you, i suspect. how old is your grandson? what will he be playing?

alyss: so will you be posting a pic of the new haircut? :> you could always do what CW did a while back when she posted a pic of her new hairstyle. and here's hoping you get a little time to yourself to get started on your book. :>

vm: how long's he been in england? i'm glad you'll be able to reconnect after his trip. and hey, maybe you'll skip right past the porn camp and make your own? :>

fearing: no, i must confess i wasn't surprised by that in the least. :D so how was the cookout last night? i'm curious, how much of your day is spent at church on sundays? is it church/social or committee meetings and stuff like that, or some combination thereof? i hope your day today is nice and relaxing. do you still have stuff in boxes? :>

beyond: o wow, have fun at that restaurant monday! heh...no, i won't be going to tampa bay either, which may or may not be surprising to you. actually, we don't have anything lined up beyond the foodie tourism at the cheese counter i mentioned in my response to polar. :> but i might break out the camcorder later on... :D

ex: ah, spring cleaning...i'll confess, while i'm a bit of a neat freak, i never really quite "get" spring cleaning. i think that makes me weird--with which fact i'm eminently OK. :>

eilan: hey, dress up frozen meals with some parsley and most will never know the difference! here's hoping a shopping excursion isn't required--although i'll confess i think the likelihood is small. i haven't had a chance to check out blog entries re: your grandmothers recently, will try to address that shortly. what are you reading this month for the club?

TS: aw man...that truly sucks! how much of that work can you do yourself?

skald: i don't understand why the hotels took the reservations from the group in the first place--usually, groups will identify themselves when they make those arrangements. hope you have a good weekend, skald!

daily: heh...maybe you could leave 'em with mickey for a little while and you could hop on over for a short visit? :D that actually sounds like it would be nifty (sans the being sick part of course)... :D

little sis: oo, high school graduation? that's really neat, your parents must be thrilled! heck, so must she!

hotaka: bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! femtotech is to me a new term, although nanotech and picotech i do recognize. i assume your figures re: computational power are based upon moore's law? and dude, i think that apart from bloc, you've been here longer than any other active soulcaster i know. seriously, yes: people have nothing better to do than watch other people have sex, as it's apparently a substitute for not having any oneself. heh...i really liked that last paragraph. :D

well we just came back from dinner!! i'll post about it later.... =)
  • fearing said on Mar 29, 2008....
Whewww!  Glad you weren't surprised.  (smile!)  Trying to keep my character in check.

We had a blast last night, thank you.  Scooter Bug and I didn't get home until 11 p.m.  He stayed outside the entire time.  My friends dug a huge pond last summer and it is just now full of water.  The NC dirt in our area is a lot of red clay/dirt so the pond was nothing but orange water.  The boys played down there first throwing dirt clogs into the pond and then at each other.  ;-) I'm pretty sure they tried to ride a tricycle into it too.  Boys.  At one point in the evening I wiped Scooter's face with a wet paper towel and it turned solid brown from dirt.  lol!  When we got home he had to walk from the door to the bath tub.  The socks will have to go in the trash and the verdict is still out on his tennis shoes.  But it was so much fun.

Church on Sunday... It is more of a whole routine.  We go to a church in a town that is about 25 minutes from here.  The church has 3 services on Sunday morning - 8:15, 10:00 and 11:45.  We go to the 11:45 service which puts us getting out of church around 1:15'ish.  (8:15 is too early and the 10:00 services is standing room only)  After that, we always eat out - each person taking a turn choosing where we eat.  Then, allowance is spent, maybe go to a coffee shop for coffee, the mall or a park to play.  Home around 5:30.  So the whole day isn't taken up with church but it is a family day that revolves around it.  The only down part of it is the oldest rarely goes with us.  He usually stays with his dad on Saturday night. ;-(

Ugh.  Every room is unpacked except this one and it is the one with the "wall of boxes".  ;-)  I keep thinking to myself - I haven't needed anything in these boxes so what could possibly be in them that I should keep?   I'm going to have one great big yard sale!

I apologize for the lengthy reply.  I'm feeling chatty this morning.

I read your comment to Polar and I hope you have a very long and relaxing time this weekend!

ed: We're reading Yann Martel's The Life of Pi.  I don't care for it.  I managed to pick up a veggie lasagna, breadsticks, veggies and dip, and cookies.  I'm not in a frame of mind to provide more at the moment.  If they don't like it, tough.
  • silverwhisper said on Mar 30, 2008....

TS: o good! whew! and that omelet sounds really tasty. :>

eilan: that's the spirit! i can't say i know a blessed thing about that book, though. ah, well.

Oh, it gets better. MIL never said when the couple would come by, so I busted my butt the night before and again at the crack of dawn making this place sparkle. We put off going to get groceries because we didn't want to miss them.

They never called, but showed up around 5:10pm, well after DH went to work, just long enough to drop stuff off with barely a hi-bye. They didn't even make it past the kitchen.
