Yep, as the title says...

I really don't know what to say in this blog post. I guess I'm just doing it for my own benefit to get these words out where I can see them. Maybe it'll help it sink in better? Gosh, I have no idea at all.

As I'm sure you've read... I was diagnosed with cancer a short while ago, and I am currently recovering from a lumpectomy surgery. I was told that things went well, and I should have a fairly decent recovery... and then prepare myself for chemo.

Anyways, I've had several check-ups since... there was an infection, but we managed to resolve that without further complications, and more tests were run. I went back yesterday to get the results, and was further told that a few things had turned up.

Talk about Mariah freak out! I trusted these doctors... and believed everything they had to say. And now to be told that things didn't turn out as how they had said/hoped... it's heartbreaking. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do now, or where to go from here. For some weird reason, I'm not all that comfortable around/with my oncologist... so I think I may look into another one and get a second opinion.

Where to go from here... only God knows I guess. If there even is a God! :-(

My first thought is that getting a second opinion is an excellent idea.  It's even more critical if you don't share a good rapport with your current doctor.  And if getting a second opinion doesn't sit well with the doc you have now, tough!

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Mariah, I am sorry that the lumpectomy did not capture all of the cells that needed to be blasted! You can do this!! My girlfriend just did. A second opinion is excellent advice and make sure you are entirely comfortable with the health professional, it is important that you feel that you can trust them!!

So what next steps are they suggesting? Chemo and Radiation are excellent tools in ridding the body of these things...and prayer. Oh yes, prayer is one of your best tools of all! Keep me posted, I am around so PM me if you have time. Mamie

Oh no, I'm sorry the news wasn't so good.

If you're at all uncomfortable with your oncologist you really need to find someone you ARE comfortable with.  You need someone who will stand and fight this thing with you.

I hope you find a good doctor and make a plan to take care of this "thing".
  • skald said on Mar 27, 2008....
I am so sorry. Yes, you should get a second opinion.

Mimi - *hugs* Thank you! :-)

Mamie - Thanks for your kind words. I'm not sure what the next step is, but a second opinion is where I'll start. As for what I have to do... time will tell, right. Thank you for your prayers :-)

    Unique - Thank you! :-)

I would definitely get a second opinion.  sometimes the lab results are wrong!  A good friend of mine just went thru this and she took what her gynocologist and oncologist told her for face value.  She is doing ok, but I would always get a second opinion when it comes to things like this.

    Love you!

  • Sunshine_Mariah said on Mar 27, 2008....
Crybaby - Thank you! :-) I wish the labs results were wrong. Guess I'm just jinxed with these things and life.

DING DING! - round 2!!! - OK so round 1 didn't produce a knockout blow to the cancer. That  don't mean sound 2 won't!  2nd opinion, further treatment and big C from the black corner is down and out!  And the winner, from the white corner is special sunshine with a knock out in round 2!  Don't give up, the match ain't over!!
  • Trinov said on Mar 27, 2008....
Hi, as someone who has twice survived cancer, with alternative methods, let me say, one, do have a second medical opinion--- and then see what is out there, out of the establishment route.

Check out Gary Null (either garynull.com or garynull.org. ) Check out Norman Cousins, check out Quantum nutrition labs (Round Rock Texas) which has anti-cancer herbs in a good formula. Google alternative cancer therapies, herbal therapies, energy healing, homeopathy etc.

Let me say this: I was 21 years old, 42 years ago, and my doctor told me I was dying. I told him to go to hell, I'd outlive him! That was not cancer then, but I had two rounds with melanoma later, the first time when there was no establishment medical answer at all.

To defeat cancer or most of those longer term illnesses (not a killing virus that can take you out in a day) you need to have a fighting spirit, be a cancer soldier and you can destroy the enemy.

There are herbs that have given clinical evidence of fighting cancer, but the medical establishement, instead of giving them to you, are filing them away until someone can get a patent on a commercial synthesized version of them. Some of them are: Lycopene (in tomatos and tomatos can be used as a soup base for the other herbs),Tumeric (that yellow spice) oregano, coriander, soy products, hummus, berries of all kinds etc. These can be used with other therapies.

Gary Null has saved people who were told by their doctors that they were on the brink of death, by using running therapy and herbs etc-. Jethro Kloss, an early 20th century herbalists saved others sent home to die (as they did then) with a tomato and citrus juice diet for six months. I was saved by an energy healer who is a kabbalist and also knows about herbs and foods and exercise as a holistic way of healing. So there are a lot of options out there and vitamin C can be used with all of them,it is the real wonder drug .

If you are not comfortable with the alternative route, Gary Null said that any route that somebody truly believes in can work, since the spirit and the body are working with this method to fight the cancer. So the only thing to fear is-- as Churchill said, fear itself. Start by telling the parasite that is cancer to go f-- itself. You are going to get rid of it, period. Fight depression, it pulls down the immune system, and more than half the job is done by the immune system, no matter what other route you take. Fight it honey, it is do--able or I would not be typing this.

Cancer is a strange thing...  Some people just shake it off by changing their diet, and some people, it kicks their butt.  I think your mindset may have a lot to do with it.  Don't be discouraged.  An illness does not define you.  You are so much more.

You've already received good advice from people here, so I won't pester you with more info.  Just wanted to drop you a little note.

Praying 4 u Mariah. Cancer treatment centers of America is a wonderful place from what I hear and they have  a couple around the region. One in Penn,etc.,. Then theres' the one in my state that Jerry Orback(Lenny-Law and Order) went to. It's located in Manhattan N.Y.. If you don't feel comfortable babe ditch the doc like a bad habit. Listen to your intuition. 2nd opinion might be a wonderful idea since they didn't remove all of the cancer. It is your right as a consumer to shop around. Just consider it shopping for your health.

God Bless and keep your head up. We'll beat this thing YET;~) You are in NO way lost and we WILL sort out the confusion honey.

    Mariah,

I am so sorry you received this news... I can only imagine the discouragement you felt at the time.  I also believe you should get a second opinion.  Particularly if you are not comfortable with your doctors decisions in your treatment.  That's not to say that he doesn't "know" oncology, but just to suggest that it's easier, for us as humans, to trust someone we "believe"in.  You say you received news that wasn't good, or expected.  I take that to believe they did not get all the cancer with your lumpectomy. (?)

NEVER give up hope!!!! You will make it through this.  As Mamie said, the chemo and radiation will kick the remaining cancers ASS!

I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately.... I'm still here, and always willing to listen and cry with you, get pissed off with you, "come up with a plan" with you.  Whatever you need.  PM me anytime.

    XO! and a giant ((((((((((HUG)))))))))))

  • FutureGoddess said on Mar 28, 2008....

Mariah - there is always HOPE.  Please try to keep yours up.  Yes, get a second opinion, particularly if you are not happy with the oncologist with whom you are working.  Get a third and fourth opinion and if necessary get a sixth and a tenth.  The only way you are going to beat this is if you feel that the people trying to help you medically are on your side.

I wish you lots of love and lots of faith -

  • vacantmind said on Mar 28, 2008....

This sucks! I hate that word, CANCER. I got several different opinions when I got diagnosed, even though I trusted the first doctor. It was a good choice for me. I could see what they had in common for approaches.

This is a hard fight, you need someone that you trust to look out for you. So, research your local doctors, cancer centers, and different approaches. The more knowledge you have, the better you will feel about the decisions you make, to fight this.

  • Emanon said on Mar 28, 2008....

Mariah,  it is not much to ask I guess, that you search the internet
for E.S.S.I.A.C.  by Resperin co (well till a couple of years ago). It is
a herbal exctract that works wonders...  Also try and find Romano Zaco's (or Zago? - a priest)  Aloe treatment, also a great alternative cure. I'm not selling stuff, look it up yourself!  Judge for yourself.
Also, drink a lot of good quality water, and little food (unless you are in chemo)

I really hope you get better, I really do, even if I don't know you.

      take care!

P.S.  A Royal Raymond Rife machine would be great, but almost
imposssible to trace nowdays. -don't go for zappers-
  • CreativeWoman said on Mar 28, 2008....
    Mariah,
I'm so sorry to hear about this.  I agree with the others that you should set about finding a doctor that you believe in and who more importantly believes in you.

I have heard of the Essiac Tea that Emanon speaks of.  I've even seen it in my local health food store.  I was told that it was invented by a nurse years ago especially for cancer.

Stay on top of it with a good doctor, though, hun.  If you try something alternative, make sure you do it with your doctor knowing.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Here I am as well, to add to everyone's well wishes and wonderful words of kindness. You will NOT let this pull you down. Take all of the prayers, positive energies and healings sent to you and fill yourself with them. Get that second opinion, go with your gut about your current oncologist, and keep your head up.

Healing energies being sent your way.

Just passing by to wish you all my love. Chin up old girl and remember that light at the end of the tunnel....... maybe you. Times like this, people always offer God, a kind of back up... just in case... but believe me, Angels are all around you, watching, helping when they can. I know recently you have been struggling but not just with the big C, other aspects of your life have suffered and also need repairing. Life is filled with pain, suffering and madness but it's a battle and thats something you can't forget right now, like others have said, prepare yourself to fight this but remember you are not on your own as you might feel. Tonight although it may sound somewhat daft... sit in a quite room with the lights low and a candle burning, say a prayer and tell him how you feel right now, I don't just mean words.. really say from your heart how this is destroying you and others, also ask your Angels to help you, surround and protect you and see what happens. I offer you a prayer from my heart to yours, a distant friend who has never met you but watches from a distant place. “The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give your peace. ” (Numbers 6:24-26) Whatever happens on your journey Mariah; remember the meaning of the name given to you. Mariah - God is my teacher. From your loving friend: Raphael
