She owns my soul, and has captured my heart
But I can never be hers, we must be apart

Fate is cruel and unfair, it robs me of my bliss
If I were writing this story, it wouldn't end like this

If I were in charge, I'd give her the stars
Instead of wounding her heart, and giving her scars

This wasn't my plan, this wasn't a scheme
All I wanted was her, to live out this dream

But dreams aren't real, eventually they end
And we must keep our distance, and use the word friend

We know that's a lie, it's not what we feel
Our hearts have been shattered, they may never heal

It is better to have loved and lost, that not love at all
I never believed that, and that's my downfall

She belongs to him, and not to me
I tried to save her, but she just wouldn't see

She say maybe one day, fate would be kind
But until that happens, it's all in my mind

Your poem wears its heartache on its sleeve, so to speak. More please. I always love it when more poets add their voices to the Soulcast menagerie. :-)
