From this afternoon's IM session
sister: well my computer did a number on the IM ware. don't know how that happened. how was lunch?
me: okay, got gas, went through the car wash, vaccuumed the car and bought lunch and dinner stuffs. Busy I guess.
sister: productive too
me: yeah, I hate being at loose ends at lunch. I like having a "mission"
sister: yeah, I've got shopping "missions" but they're usually "impossible"
me: in those cases lunch tends to self destruct in 10 seconds (do you hear music too?)
About 20 minutes pass
sister: I smell something burning.
me: LOL, you have no idea
me: I just went to get a cup of green tea. I had it in a styrofoam cup and as I added an ice cube it splashed out and scalded me.
sister: ah, so that was you.
me: I instinctively grabbed the cup with the other hand and it splashed out on the other hand.
me: I did the back and forth thing about 4 times before I got close enough to a table to set the cup down on and dance around waving my hands
sister: LOL, creating a new dance?
me: and the words to the song were ouch!, ouch!, ouch!
sister: better than sh*t, sh*t, sh*t - my usual lyrics
me: there were other people in the room
sister: I just whisper at that point.
me: I was honestly so caught off guard that I was speechless
I'm perfectly okay. My hands are a little pink and stingy but no welts or blisters.
I think the thing that most surprised me about this silly little incident is that I didn't just drop the cup. My foggy little brain is so bent of "conquering" the burning hot tea that I wouldn't let go of the cup. Talk about learning about your subconscience the hard way!!
