I'm not an expert, nor do I claim to be, my only goal is to speak you from a "regular" person's point of view.
Have I ever tried it?
Actually
I have, let's just say i wasn't too happy with my body, so when I read
about fasting, boy did I jump at the opportunity. I mean I was young,
and dropping a measly 10 pounds in 3 days sounded great to me! So I
tried it.
Let's
go over the different fasts that are out there first. We have the
famous Water Fast, Juice Fast, and Vegetables Only Fast. All can work
wonders if given a chance, but you should always be cautious when
denying your body all the things it's used to.
When
I first started fasting, the Water Fast was my best friend. I mean if I
wanted to drop a whole pant size in a week, this was the fast to try!
When my hunger invaded my stomach, I would drown it out by eating a
lemon, or one cup exactly of an all natural juice. This little trick
helped me get through the night.
I
have to admit, I was a dangerous faster at first, because my only goal
was to get the weight off! I exercised like crazy, when my body should
have been resting. Twice I came close to fainting, but luckily I wasn't
too driven not to take a pause.
Juice
Fasting was a lot easier, I had just enough to feel full, and enough
energy to workout. The weight didn't come off as fast as with the Water
Fast, but it did come off. Granted I had to workout a little harder and
longer, and the results weren't as great as Water Fasting, but at the
same time, I didn't suffer the back pain, headaches, or feeling weak
all day.
People
rarely describe the bad points when it comes to these type of things,
but the truth is, is that they do exist. When Water Fasting, prepare
for bad breath, back pains, loose bowels, and all that other gross
stuff, people hate to mention. Although if you alternate between two or
more fasts, chances are these symptoms will be very rare. Again,
speaking from my own experiences, every human body is different,
everyone reacts differently to everything.
So do I fast now?
I
do, but not to lose weight. My last fast was actually to quit smoking.
I did a Water Fast for a week and a half to help me overcome my
addiction. I can say that it did help! I'm no longer spending my cash
on an item that will help kill me!
Why do I still fast?
It's
not for weight loss I can tell you that, It's to stay healthy, and
sometimes to break certain addictions. I'm sure you've all heard that
when you lose weight by fasting, it comes right back on, but ten times
worst, well it is true to an extinct. If you incorporate fasting into
your life and do it religiously maybe once a month, you can actually
maintain your weight loss, and get healthy by the weeks.
Why am I sharing this information?
Cause
I've been there, I know what it's like to need that little
encouragement, but by all means, I'm not encouraging you to lose weight
by fasting, instead I'm just trying to give you a point a view on
fasting. You should never decide important decisions based on someone
else's finds, instead you decide for yourself.
No
one can decide how you go about fasting, but I ask you to be cautious.
Don't do it just to drop pounds, and think you can return to the normal
way of life, cause you can't if you want to keep the results, instead,
do it to gain a better grip on being healthy! Fasting can be a great
way to gain control of your health, but if prolonged, and not done
right, it can be very dangerous.
