A must watch.

And for the best analysis of the speech, read this.

Some have called this the single best political speech made in years. I read the text before I watched it through YouTube and I have to say that I was deeply moved. We just don't get politicians taking risks like this very often.

I'm posting about this on ed's blog, and even though I haven't finished the speech yet I also am (trying to) listening while reading the transcript.

Sorry, bloc, but for some reason I thought this was D6fer's post!

Anyway, I thought that it was a good speech. Not great, but he still hit some of the right buttons with me.

did you check out the link I posted? I posted it on ed's blog too. I certainly don't agree with all of his positions, but I do feel he is running a campaign that isn't trying to appeal to our basest instincts. He's articulating nuanced positions that avoiding the fear-mongering game and I think that is something we really need to strive for in our politicians.

No, I just finished listening to the speech, reading the transcript, and reading another article about Obama before he was a Senator or Presidential candidate. I'm going to go read the Salon article now.

    Hmm. Interesting.

I don't think that Obama is quite a Ronald Reagan (or even a Bill Clinton) yet, but I think that he might have the potential to be.

I think that, as the article pointed out, most Americans are tired of the negativity and want to rise above the more petty disagreements (some of which Obama pointed out in his speech) and move on to solving the real problems that we are having.

exactly why a vote for Obama is a vote for left-wing fascism.  Too bad the alternatives are Hillary Clinton and John McCain, both more right-wing than Bush on foreign policy.

"Hillary makes Bush's foreign policy look like that of her husband's administration.  I guess its one regime exchanged for another.  Better get with the program.  Post-1984.."

This is the Brave New World...
