I have been watching the History channel alot lately--and have been given things to think about as I go to sleep.  I have found many answers by watching, but have been given many more questions to pump a little gas into my sluggish mind.

Here is a little quiz to test you on what you know--and it forgives you for being wrong.

I may need to write another blog about what I really wanted to ask here.

For example:

If scientists are so sure that the universe was formed from the "Big Bang" I guess that's what they think.  But:

Where did that tiny bit of stuff that "burst" come from?  It had hydrogen and some other element in it (sorry, I forgot what right now)

But there could not be something from nothing that suddenly burst, could it?

And if the universe is constantly "expanding"  are we not being pulled and moved?  Even with the theory of gravity and "static state" occurring at the same time, as they said?

Religion says God put the tiny bit of stuff there, when the scientists ask.  I would presume so, anyway.  Me, I am just asking for all the answers---and that's something both science and religion are asking.

I hope they figure it out one day.  But if I die first, I bet I beat them both to it.

Anyway, if the link still works, here is the fun test:

mobil:  That's ok---I feel the same way when it happens.  I can't even remember the last sentence I wrote in a comment that got half eaten.   Maybe when you calm down in the next day or so you will feel like saying something.  If not, I will understand!  I hate it, too!  But thank you for the trying!

  • wombat said on Mar 17, 2008....
silverwhisper:  Oops...I was so wrapped up in my post that I forgot the score thing.  I got about the same I remember now.

destinydiva:  I got that one right for some reason!  It was just a guess.
  • wombat said on Mar 17, 2008....
silverwhisper:  Took it again and got an 8/12....a little easier each time, huh?

Anyway, hope someone likes the test and the travel.......

i haven't taken the quiz yet, but i will later. i did want to post two thoughts. one, the universe is expanding, and we are being moved with it. our sun rotates around the center of our galixy, our galixy moves in relation to others. it's on a very large scale because space is HUGE!

second, the 'big bang' theory is just that, a theory. same as a 'devine creator'. and if you think about it, this creator made our universe from nothing. but here's a personal theory of mine. a black hole will gobble up stuff from our universe and put it... where? compress it to the point that the laws of physics of our universe change and create a new set of laws unrelated to ours. a new universe. so perhaps if we could someday find the point of origin of our universe, we'd see stuff being spewed out of it like a cosmic volcano. quick explaination for a not well received theory, but a theory nonetheless :-)

travelr712:  I like the way your mind works.  I have been lying in bed when I can't sleep and thinking about these kinds of mysteries--why I don't know.  I guess because I enjoyed watching the History channel shows.  Thanks for your input and more to think about!

quietone:  Hi, and good to hear you laughing....hope you are feeling better.

Wombie...i watched the series about the origin of the universe too....and by the quiz not much has remained in my little brain....i scored only 7....lol..

But its ok.......Parmenide, the ancient Greek philosopher, had pondered all his life about the origin of the Universe....he believed that Anything can't come from Nothing...therefore Somethign must have created the Nothing from which Everything had later on developed...

He called this Pre-Something  The Oneniness....or God...

He also believed that we can live in infinite parallel worlds....each of us basically is doing what we are going to do in a moment from now in this universe, or a little late in another one..or 10 years later in yet another one...also, at this exact time we are about to be born again in yet another universe....fascinating, don't you think?...:-)

  • wombat said on Mar 18, 2008....
gingersoul:  Wow...I think about the parallel universe theory alot.  It is definitly the strangest way to look at things that ever was.  But it fits into the way I think about how things go--you know--if you had done this instead of that, at any given moment in any given time--then how different things would be.  Like the old saying, "If a tree falls in the woods, and no one is there to hear it, does it make a noise?"

If I had made a different choice at some other time (so many times) what would I be doing right now?"

Thank you so much for your input!  More to think about!
