THE WHITE GUILT PROCLAIMTION                                              

         AS CAUCASIAN PROGRESSIVES…………

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, DO HERE BY DECLARE THE FOLLOWING:

1.     We understand that we live in a white  racist society and have been inadvertently taught to be racist all of our lives by virtually every initiation rite, every form of peer , and social pressure  and every unspoken assumption of our culture.

2.    We understand , and acknowledge, that virtually  every authority figure we have ever encountered  has, more often than not,  taught us to be racist in some way, shape or form.

3.    We understand that white people have, and have always had , exclusive  institutional power in the United States and all other western nations…..

As such we here by formally & officially  renounce  all such institutions  and authorities as illegitimate , unjust, unfair, and just plain wrong!

4.  We understand and acknowledge  that racism is race prejudice backed up with institutional power. And that it has always existed in the U.S.A., and in every other nation of the western world, and that (while more insidious perhaps) it continues to exist today. And is…in some ways….more prevalent than ever before….

5.   We understand  and acknowledge  that institutionalized white racism  suffuses every facet of every institutional function, organizational structure and governmental policy of our nation(s). From  immigration control to police protection. And from criminal justice , to housing, jobs , education and virtually everything else in our societies

And, as progressive minded anti-racists, we  here by formally express our opposition to that  inherently unfair, discriminatory and monstrously evil power structure..

6.  We understand that we have directly benefited from white skin privilege and have most likely taken part directly or indirectly in perpetuating white supremacy , systematic  racism and defacto segregation . For this, we as white people deeply and sincerely apologize to all people of color.

7.   We are now, firmly & unswervingly committed to acknowledging racism and taking the required steps to renounce, undo and fight racism on an individual, cultural and institutional level in our families, friendships, and all other relationships, with others, as well as doing whatever we can to oppose racism in the larger communities of our neighborhoods, towns, cities and countries around the world.

8.  We are committed to honoring the leadership of people of color ; to being held accountable to them ;and pledge to do whatever it takes to thoroughly integrate our society and right the  past wrongs wrought  by white racism ,and the legacies of  segregation and slavery, by whatever means may be necessary (e.g. :Bussing, Affirmative Action, Reparations  etc. etc.)

9.   We are committed to exploring what it means to be white in a society where white people hold virtually all the institutional power positions and all the undeserved   privileges  of  special status which our skin color grants to us in this  oh so white supremacist  world of ours .

10.  We are committed to organizing in an anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic, anti-classist, anti-ageist and anti-ableist movement to stamp out all of these oppressive ISMs, and do all that we can to work to create a world for future generations in which all forms of bigotry, supremacism  , and discrimination will be eradicated forever!
