  I read for awhile before I started posting here as well. I actually started by commenting on a few blogs to break the ice, so to speak before I broke out my own first blog post.
  
  I found the welcome here warm and the community just as warm as the welcome, which is a large part of the reason why I have stayed at SC for so long.

  as to being accepted immediately, if people seem standoffish, perhaps it is because we've had a rash recently of some negative experiences with alts here, and since no one really knows who anyone else is, people can be kind of skiddish until they get to know you, so try not to take it personally. you're doing what it takes to get noticed here. commenting on other people's blogs, engaging them, letting them get to know you. that's about all you can do here. good luck :-)
