Don't you wish you could sleep like this?

toocute

I just love this cat. I feel bad because she gets more face time at this blog than the other cats, but it's simply because she just commands attention with her antics and extreme cuteness. This is by far the biggest cat I've ever owned. She weighs in around 20 lbs. And with the fluffiness of her fur, she looks twice as big as that.

She is also the clumsiest animal I've ever seen too. They always say that cats land on their feet, no matter what. But not this one. She often rolls out of chairs or off the couch and lands on her head. Once, she was sleeping in the kitchen chair and fell off right into the water dish. She's not quite all there. She's a special needs cat. She can't jump or climb and needs to be lifted onto stuff.

Like this drawer for example. She can't get in there on her own, so she'll ask you to open it and then she wants a boost to climb in. It's her secret hiding spot. And if any of the other cats dare to even think about sleeping in there, she will go over and smack them. It's HER drawer. She doesn't share.

She is also afraid of heights. Most cats love to climb and sit on top of tall things and look down on the world. But not this one. We've helped her into the window before and she panics. Probably because she knows she can't jump down on her own. So she'd rather not even be up there.

But she's an excellent hunter and finds all sorts of gross things to kill and eat. And if it's something that flies, like a moth or a bird, she lets one of the other cats catch it for her, then she steals it. I mentioned that before. She is the queen of the kitty castle. You don't wanna mess with her. Trust me. I've got the scratches on my side to prove it.

Good thing she's cute....

    bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! that's hysterical!

man, it's funny--the mrs and i were talking about our previous cat, who was a cantankerous and periodically unpleasantly surprisingly violent cat--but he was a real character and i loved that about him, just b/c he was such a pain, you know? these wacky little things that others might find annoying or even flaws, we just look at 'em and think, "hey, that's just part of who [he/she] is"!

    so...what's her name?

we had a tiny little cat that was severely clumsy.
he managed to pull a computer monitor on top of himself.....not the lcd ones...but the giant huge ones.

he also pulled an upright stereo speaker over on himself.

and when i first read the intro to the post....it sounded like me. :P
    i'm so clumsy. :P

Kyle....this was precious.....your cat is really something...lol....i love that pic of her in the drawer...i had a cat too until last year ..her name was Allie and she was just good for nothing...

I mean, we had also a dog (he is still with me)...well..... can you believe that the dog was the one chasing flies around the house and she simply woudlnt move a muscle?..

She would simply look at him Garfield-like thinking "Please, would you stop going around like a stupid clown? You and that annoying fly"  and she would come back to sleep.....lol...

    But i simply adored her.

Keep posting your cat...she is a real star...:-)

She is a cute cat isn't she? I love that picture of her in the dresser with your clothes. It's funny how her foot is hanging over the edge too.

Our cat likes to sleep in strange places too. Like in the laundry basket. I'm thinking that both of us walk around with a lot of cat hair on our clothes huh?

LOL.  Your cat rode the short bus...

My cat's a little light on the brain-cell department, too.  Meh, what're you gonna do?  She makes up for it in furriness and cuteness, right?

ahh, miss fluff! hello kitty :-) i can understand why she doesn't like heights. if she falls off onto her head, the higher, the harder, know what i mean?
  • minniemouse said on Mar 17, 2008....
lol...she gets you to open the drawer and lift her up into it...you pick her up and put her in the window...lets the other cats chase the flys and steals them?  She doesn't sound special needs to me...she sounds pretty darn smart and rules the roost!  Thanks for sharing...she is an adorable cat!  :-)  Minnie

silver--I actually think that the quirks of an animal make them even more lovable. Just like people! And I see Nat already shared her name, but yes, this is our famous Miss Fluff.

fallyn--I hope your cat wasn't hurt pulling that stuff over on top of themselves! I'm not even sure how they'd pull over a computer monitor....strong cat!

cutie--I love the pic too which was why I had to share it. Not only was I lucky to find you, but you came with a great cat too! :-P

ginger--We have two other cats that are totally lazy. They do nothing at all. But Miss Fluff and her partner in crime, Misty, are excellent hunters and entertainers!

Mr. Box--I do sometimes have fur on my clothes. But she really likes the drawer, so I'm helpless to resist her.

grape--They do make up for riding the short bus with their cuteness!

trav--You're totally right. She's never once landed on her feet when she's fallen, so she panics at being up too high. Poor thing.

minnie--You're onto something. She is very shrewd because all of us are her willing slaves!

awwww, that is so cute! We have a dog sammie who thinks he is Simba. Stands like the little lion and tries to roar...it comes out as a squeak! Funny, these little fur balls who command our love!!

She sounds hilarious -- and she *is* cute! :) No wonder she gets so much face time here.

(And holy COW that's a big cat -- she weighs as much as linebacker baby!)

She sounds like a winner!!  I love cats with quirky personalities and other traits that make them unique.  Even if it isn't neccesarily a positive thing.

she is special e.t. no doubt about it.. .and she has some special people to care for her special needs as well~  :)  that was cute.
  • evil_twin said on Mar 17, 2008....
mamie--Your dog sounds cute too! I love pets :-)

Infernal--She is a big cat. It's a chore to lift her up all the time! She's slippery too so it makes it even harder :-P

Zayda--Thanks. That drawer doesn't look that comfy to me, but she loves it!

uniquely--I think the quirky stuff makes them even more lovable too.

hinana--She does have us wrapped around her paws! Luckily I don't have to hunt bugs for her....

quietone--Thank you :-) She's definitely a very spoiled cat, just like all the others!

Hi, your Miss Fluff reminds us of a beloved cat that passed away---that we called Fluffy!

Fluffy was almost human, and she also was not good at jumping up or down. She was a Maine Coon cat-- we were told by the vet. She had come to our door as an abandoned kitten, a couple of months old, and she was just a fluffly little thing who was still shedding her under winter coat everywhere.

She used to get depressed, or get 'high' from various circumstances that we never figured out, except that she hated closed doors, so maybe she had been locked out by some bastard.

When we took in another abandoned kitten a few years later, she was so angry at my husband that not only did she not look at him for a couple of weeks, but when he came to try to talk to her, she actually slapped him on the face with both paws, more like a jealous woman than a cat.

She loved to drink from the faucet, she tried to learn how to turn on the electric heater, and would have succeeded if it had been plugged in. She was so very special to us.
  • evil_twin said on Mar 17, 2008....
Trinov--Our cat is a Maine Coon too! They're really different cats, I think. Ours gets depressed too and very scared over stupid things. She'll shake like she's having a seizure. And I'm not sure why she can't jump, but she also can't walk in a straight line either. She walks sideways! But she can run straight and fast! But if she walks, she sometimes topples over because her legs give out. Nat said it's been like that since she was a kitten, but the vet wasn't sure what was wrong with her. Something about her equilibrium being off. But that just makes her more special!

ET...i'm not even sure how he managed it....he barely weighed 5lbs!
he was okay......but it could have been MUCH worse.

Love the photo of "Miss Fluff!"  I got tickled at the line, "asks you to open it and then asks for a boost to climb in."   I can just see that in my mind...her standing there with that look on her face and maybe pawing at the drawer and "meowing."
  • Trinov said on Mar 17, 2008....
Hi, yes I thought your cat looked like our Fluffy! From what I know they are 'rock cats' as opposed to tree cats, so that they are programmed to get along on rocks and hills,--- maybe walking sideways is an advantage on rocks?

Fluffy was always jealous that our other cat could jump very high. She tried and fell and hurt herself once. She was also angry at the kitten, who is and was a mischief who liked to pounce on her at inconvenient times, as in the kitty litter. But once my husband got angry at the kitten for jumping up to sit on a light fixture, very dangerous to the kitten here with 220 electricity, and Fluffy made it clear to him that no human should even think of hitting a kitten.

I think that the Coon cats may really be very near to wild cats and have a very high IQ and a very different ''programming" from most domestic cats. It is not true that wild and domestic cats cannot mate, for I remember a warning from the Nature Society here in Isreal -not to -
    under any circumstances--
try to get near to a domestic- looking cat while on a nature walk, for the cat would probably be a nearly 90% wild cat and would be very aggressive and dangerous, and its domestic markings are dominant --but just the markings, not the milder domesticated genes.

So you have a very special cat, but you do know that. May she live a long, healthy and protected life with you both and your other cats.
