****Inspired by Grape who will become a great rock artist and maybe will play one of her songs****

This is my favorite album ever. I listen to these songs when i am at work ....i put on my headset, log on Youtube, watch her videos or simply let her music flow...

Sometimes, i have to admit, this music distracts me a lot....i might be in the middle of typing something and my mind just slips away...

She is Sia Furler, an amazing Australian songwriter and an even more expcetional singer...her voice gives me goosebumps...and the lyrics she writes...oh, they speak so well to me.

I hope you enjoy her as much as i do.

And since we are talking music here...what are you listening these days?

Great music gingerbread, this is what I am listening to right now.

ginger -- well, my youtube downloads are a little slow today. i'm trying, lady, i'm trying. :-)

The baby in the first video looks strikingly like my first daughter looked at her age. It's like seeing her again at that age. Same face. Same expressions. It's stunning how alike they are. I never saw a baby look anywhere near as close to her as this one does. If my wife was awake I'd call her over here to take a look, and ask her if that baby reminds her of anyone, and I know she would freak out at the resemblance. It's so strange to see your own daughter in a video.

She's cool.  Beautiful voice.  I've never heard of her before.  I'll have to see what the rest of the band says about it, but the third song sounds easy enough for me to learn.  I'll run it by the band.  :)  As to what I'm listening to, gosh...  There's just so much and not enough...  It's so hard to pick just one...

Well, I guess this one's as good as any other.

    For now...

GK your video choice is up the kerfooey!!! New link please. ;-)

ginger, have to say she doesn't hit the spot for me but I am very much in favour of everyone having their own favourites irrespective of what anyone else might think about them. ;-)
  • Alyss said on Mar 16, 2008....
Oh I forgot to add my choice, silly me. My listening choice is quite varied but I especially like this one. Sorry, it won't embed.

    And this one too.
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Mar 16, 2008....
Alyss:  Not a fan of the Flaming Lips?  What's wrong with them?

How about this one by the Pixies, then?  The video's kinda lame, but I love the song...

  • Alyss said on Mar 16, 2008....
Grapey dearest, I can't get your first video choice to load at all (it's restricted to US viewers I think) so I have no idea whether or not I like them or not!

And the second one, well that one made me laugh. 'Here comes your man...' indeed! < G >

  • GrapeKoolaid said on Mar 16, 2008....
Alyss:  Bummer...  Here's a link to it, if you want to see.  :)
  • Alyss said on Mar 16, 2008....
And I still can't view it! Bloody copyright laws. < goes off in a corner to sulk >

Alyss:  Third time's a charm, right?  Try this link.  :)
  • Alyss said on Mar 16, 2008....
Third times the charm indeed. Thank you! And yes, it is a good song. Very apt. ;-)

    Dear Ginger--

I followed your advice. I kept my patience while my slow Youtube links downloaded, and listened more closely. Now you've got me hooked into Sia Fulter's music. She has an INCREDIBLE voice, not to mention her simple but powerful lyrics.

Maybe it was merely the first piece, "Don't bring me down," that didn't ring bells me.

But it was the second piece, "Breath me," that blew me away from the very first line down to the last. Her voice and the piano here are subdued but powerful. It is simply one of the most beautiful soul songs I've listened to.

    Be my friend
    Hold me, wrap me up
    Unfold me
    I am small
    I'm needy
    Warm me up
    And breathe me

I realize why it's become one of your favorites, and why Sia's music speaks directly to your heart.

And Distractions... a great soul song.

Now I'm listening to her Moon.

I long to be a part
    I isolate my heart
You've drawn me into your world
    Now I too spin limbless

Now I can't get enough of her. And it's all your fault. Lol.

I think I fully understand why her music tugs at your heart so deeply. Now it has affected mine, too. Thank you, dear friend.

    --Moon

Oh, and Ginger, here's what I'm listening to at this moment. I'm dedicating it to your mother and late father. And to you and your daughter of course. (I got a bit bored with Bach this afternoon. Lol.)

  • gingersoul said on Mar 16, 2008....

    First.......Moon....

    I am very touched by the Edith Piaf's video....thank you...my father loved her and so still does my mother.......my sister had a version of this song performed by a band of which i dont recall the name now......so...everything is connected ...thank you again....{hug}

And about Sia...i knew you would appreciate her ....its a kind of music that maybe doesn't hit you immediately (even though it did it for me) but once you like one song you have to listen to the other ones...

So i am not that sorry if Sia is haunting you too.....;-)

  • gingersoul said on Mar 16, 2008....

    Mobil.......well...that is a nice song too....romantic.....:-)

    Lenny...really? What a coincidence....i am very glad now of having put that song here....it doesn't happen often to have such a jump in the heart....i am happy you have seen you daughter smiling at you...{hug}

Grapey and Alyss.....you two cracked me up....lol...

GK......as i wrote in your other post, i really like these two songs too....it was a long time i didn't hear them....nice surprise.....;-)

  • beyondtheveil said on Mar 16, 2008....
ginsoul- Excellent find. I listened to all three twice. I like her very much, she does kind of make you want more doesn't she? I can't seem to pick a favorite, they were all good.

What am I listening to now? Before these songs, l  was listening to the wind through the chimes and the movement of my window shades.
  • gingersoul said on Mar 16, 2008....

    BeyBey...oh....that is a lovely music...i agree with you....chimes sounds....echoes in the wind....

I knew you would have liked her....i dont know......she seems hitting people right in the heart....my fav song is "A day too soon" up to now....

She also reminds me a little bit of my sister...her same hair...her shy looks...something in the way she moves.....
