I have seen a few blogs lately about feeling depressed this time of year.  One can only imgaine what its like to be depressed and also live in the darkness couped up in a house all day with not much fresh air.  That in itself is depressing, and can lead one to get a bit ugly or bitchy in itself.

I myself, get depresessed with the same old routine day after day.  Getting up going to work, which is the off shift to boot.  I didn't know it had a name really until now..  Seasnoal Affective Disorder: SAD   Now what a perfect name for this condition!

I have also heard about the full spectrum lightbulb/lighting from a counselor and how it reflects like natural sun rays and can help improve the SAD state of mind.

I think this fall I will concider getting a full spectrum light bulb in my reading light and sit under it for a couple hours a day... hey what do I have to loose.. not a thing and everything to gain~

But for right now..... I feel spring is on its way!! woo hoo~  Here comes the Sun.....

secret ~ there was some research done in a state office out in Washington when I leved out there.  They replaced all the florescent bulbs with these full spectrum lights and the work environment actaully changed and less people missed time etc.  So, its gotta do something.

There used to be a tv show called Northern Exposure, it took place in a small town in Alaska.

With all the darkness there in the Winter they or some of them wore these light shades on their heads the light being over top their eyes.  It was a special kind of bulb and the whole affair looked kinda silly.

This is real, this darkness depression, I don't know if those lights work or not, couldn't hurt to try hey?

When I lived for a time with my stepmom in Alaska, we were down in the dumps and feeling blue, and that light you speak of done wonders for the both of us.

mobil ~ when I was down and in my darkness this lightbulb is what the counselor told me to get.. just sit under it and read a book for a couple hours a day... like you say, what the heck, you have nothing to loose except a couple of bucks for the bulb!

cindylu ~ I haven't heard anything bad about this kind of lighting.  I have yet to find it here in any local stores.  It is too bad they don't make this more accessable to buy for folks during the long dark winter months.  I am so glad to hear that it did work for you.

Again, late here, but the song made me feel better just listening to it.  I turned it up loud and enjoyed the video, so thanks for that!  I still haven't checked into getting one of those light bulb things, but I am like you and may check it out, especially for next year's dark winter days.  Then again, good friends and good songs like this are a big "light" also!

yes they are a good source of light as well.. but I don't think I have the same nutrients that sunlight has.. LOL  don't feel bad, I have been wanting one of these bulbs for what 10 years now?  LOL still none.  I see where I can order them on line.  Maybe I will do that.

Sick, Sick, Sick....
I feel so completely empty. I've been so depressed lately that I can't seem to remember when I became this way. What happened to me? I can't be happy anymore. I can't bring myself to do any of the things I used to like. All I want to do is sit around and...
and thats verrrry naughty of me....
What is the cure for a loss of appetite? Recently, I cannot seem to eat much food, nor do I have the desire to eat. I am not sure why exactly, but I have experienced this in the past and have no idea how I got back to eating....
I had to buy another pack of cigarettes this morning, not really knowing why I did because just recently I was praying so hard to God to help me quit…and I did-for about 3 moths....
