Olia has been quite sick for the past few days.  She has a high fever and a hacking cough(which keeps me up all night because she sleeps with me when she is sick).  She started to tell me about the times she was sick when she was in Ukraine.  She told me that she stayed in a hospital room with four other girls about her age.  She said that one of the girls had parents and the mom came to visit her everyday.  She said that the mom brought a TV for all the girls to watch and she brought fruit for all of them to eat.  Olia said the hospital food tasted terrible so they loved having the fruit.  She said the mom was nice to all the kids.  Olia said that no one from the orphanage came to visit her when she was there.  She said her second Grandmother(her great-grandmother) came to visit her one time when she was in the hospital. That makes me feel so bad because Olia loves to be pampered when she is sick, as do most kids.
Dan took Olia to the pediatrician this morning.  They have walk-in hours from 8-8:30 am every morning.  Dan and Olia walked in the office at 8:33 and they wouldn't see her.  They wanted Dan to bring her back at 10:45.  Dan was annoyed and told them he would just go to another practice so he went to a new health center that just opened up near us and he found a great doctor.  I think we will switch to that practice.  I had been with our pediatric practice for 28 years, but they have gotten too huge.
Olia is bored at home all day long.  She doesn't feel well enough to do too much, but she feels well enough to be a bit bored.  Renee doesn't feel well because she also has a fever and a kidney infection so she doesn't feel well enough to do much with her. Renee has been the one watching Olia all day for the last few days because she is home for her Spring College break and I don't have to take off from work!  I really don't like Olia to miss so much school, but she is just too sick to attend.
My friend Nina sent Olia the cutest craft Easter eggs.  They are black and you use a wooden stick to scratch designs into them.  As you scratch the black egg, beautiful colors emerge.  Olia had a great time making them today and decorated the kitchen with them.  They were hanging up from the cabinets when I got home from work.
