I just have a quick question... Why in the hell should I ever have to be on hold with 911? I guess my emergencies are not urgent enough. I think it is a little rediculous on three different levels. They have no idea what is going on. I was on the highway and I witnessed a severe accident. Four vehicles were turned on their sides. people were fighting to get out. Stuck in the cars. You want to talk about a nightmare of a site? People, struggling and fighting for fears that they may be taking their last of breaths? Crazy right? We pulled over and called 911...do you know they told us to hold on for a second? are you serious? My tax dollars go towards a faulty presidents paycheck and a receptionist to put me on hold? luckily some came but what if? what if it was their family member? Or better yet, me? Tell me what you think. Something needs to be done. Immediately. Its and emergency.

That is a sad & unfortunate situation. I wish I could say that I haven't been placed on hold when I've 911, but I am in the same boat you are in. A year or so ago, a lady called 911, but her husband died b/c she didn't know enough English to explain that he was choking. After that, there was a lot of hoopla to get biligual (English & Spanish) 911 operators. Of course, I can remember some people being angry about that b/c the thinking was if she only spoken English... Anyway, I think that puts an interesting twist on an already prevalent problem.

I mean it is out of hand. We just have to figure out what we can do as a community because I don't want anyone to die over some foolishness such as a 911 operator.
