John McCain is in his 70's and after Reagan's medical problems(Which I think we all know did not start 2yrs after he left office.), I really wonder if we should place an age cap on the Presidency. Just look at Cheny. That dude is a walking billboard for medical aliments and has probably spent more time in hospitals during his vice Presidency than in the white house and this guy was suppose to take over if George were assinated?

Thank God for small miracles that we didn't end up trading in one idiot for another that is gonna go anyday now with all of his medical problems. I swear he took the job just for health insurance as he would have been dropped by any normal medical insurance company once they got ahold of his list. I know if this was you or me we would have.

McCain looks like at times as if he's going to keel over himself. These things make me wonder should we cap the American President's age to retirement age. I think 65 is good.
What do you say?

No way!  There are many people who are physically vibrant well after 65 and I'd like the opportunity to benefit from their experience.  I do think there should be some claus in the laws that would require each president to give a fully disclosed report to one of the governing bodies if they're mental well being is called into question by a set number of that body.  This way if there is concern for alzheimers or such we'd get wind early enough to do something about it.

With age comes wisdom, I'd hate for us to lose that wisdom due to physical ailment which does not preclude wise policy.  We've had many presidents in poor health or which many did great jobs.

no. and suggesting it when AARP is growing even more powerful with each passing day is political suicide, IMHO.

If age is an issue for voters all they have to do is vote for someone else.

McCain's age is a concern of mine as well, but as I said, all I have to do is vote differently. No new laws required.  Besides, if age discrimination is illegal (or at least ought to be frowned upon) in the workplace, how can we practice it in the oval office?
