A promising NY lawyer, who represented some of the 9-11 families and flight 587, the plane going to the Dominican Republic that crashed not to far after 9-11, developed quite the nasty gambling problem to the tune of a 1million debt and is now suing 7 Alantic city casinos to the tune of 20 million saying that they should have known she had a gambling problem and it was their OBLIGATION to HELP HER!
She said that during one 5day gambling jag he existed on nothing but complimentary candy bars and orange juice given to her by staff. Another time she had her dog with her and was at the table so long she brushed her teeth with disposable wipes. Another time she was playing 7blackjack hands at the time so that she could have the entire table to herself and was losing $5,000 dollars an hour.(In which if this was true they should have shut the table down after 3hrs). She claimed that she passed out at the tables and that it was their duty to help her claiming no one in their right mind would gamble 4-5 straight days without sleep.
And how did she finance such an expensive habit one might ask? She bilked 4clients out of $99,142. And she's into Ucle Sam for $58,000 for starters. This habit of hers has also come with the price tag of her losing her license to practice law(Duh),and the losses of her and her parents homes. I think that 1st off that's like an addict suing their drug dealer for supplying them with the drugs that they run in their arm or up their nose. The dealer is not forcing you to continue your habit. And if you don't ask for help you won't get help.
A lawyer specializing in Atlantic City gambling issues says it will be difficult for her to prove that the casinos knew of her problem and ignored it. "How are you suppose to know weither she was just having a good time? Had money and was just lonely or someone who couldn't control themselves. Me personally I think it's just a way for someone not to take RESPONSIBILITY and OWN UP TO HER OWN ACTIONS. What do you think?
