I have been a pot smoker for a few years now. Those of you who have read my previous posts already know this. During this time the price of post has fluctuated some. When I first started buying back in 2000 pressed commercial dope was 20 for and 1/8 (half quarter) 40 for a quarter 50-70for a half ounce 100-120an ounce. Green pot went 25, 50, 75, 150. Just a week ago the local news paper (Athens News) wrote an article on the price of pot.(Isn't that awesome!!! It was a pro pot article which all of theirs always are!) According to them the average price of Green Pot is 300 an ounce. Now that just seems a bit ridiculous to me. Right now just this month in 2008 I pay 20, 40, 80, 150 for commercial pot. For green pot I would pay as much as 200 an ounce but that is only for clone buba tuck. I just don't understand why the prices are going up and why people are paying so much for a bag. If my dealer said 300 I would laugh at him and walk out. It sounds to me like people need to start being smarter buyers and turning away from a bad deal when it is presented to them.
So what do you pay for pot? How have the prices changed in your area? What is the most you would pay for a bag of commercial? of green pot?

    I have smoked since 1969.

The price of pot has been directly linked to the increases of governmental monies being porked into law enforcement for growth based upon a false drug war, it was just a cost passed on by big brother.

$50 an ounce was a tremendous amount to pay for the best "gold" on the market in 1971-74 era.  Commercial weed sold for $30 and $35 a "Quarter Pound".

The prices today is reflective of the cost of production in hyper hydro growing (building; utilities, seed, chemicals, lighting, and lawyer stash fund, just in case), and big brother demands a lawyer in the offing, its best to know one before you plant your first seed, and lawyers are not cheap and a part of the problem.

Lawyers do not want marijuana legalized, they earn good money defending marijuana smokers/dealers.  The law wants it to stay illegal, as it means big federal money grants to their agencies by big brother.  The Court, which is an extension of the prison system, needs to fill its beds to continue growing and being given tax dollars, federal/state funding.  Prison construction itself creates jobs being built, creates jobs in a community with few others, creates an inmate slave market for state run industries....and the price of cops, layers and prison beds just keep going up.  Hence, marijuana is more profitable to governmental agencies being illegal and, the lawyers who could form the legal arguments to reframe marijuana laws, are reluctant to give up  an added income to a practice, which also has expenses.

So, with added law enforcement efforts, were added too, the increase in marijuana pricing.  Legalize marijuana and the price will drop out the bottom of the product because supple then will be simplified and no longer monetarily attractive to law enforcement a like.

One must remember that marijuana was originally made illegal to control illegal immigrants way back in the 20's and 30's in southern mid western states as a means to deport Mexicans a way from affluent land owners; Mexicans and blacks were most common users of marijuana in society of that day.

Since it was government that used marijuana as a prejudicial tool then, there is now an even bigger draw to marijuana and the government ; money.

Recall, shit runs down hill.  The cost of marijuana to you is a direct result of big brother's making marijuana an industry.

No longer care as I have been a skunk and gold grower since 1976.  Just for me and a select few in my life.

    Green Thumb.

Why in the world would pot growers want it legalized? Add a state and
federal tax and you would be paying $200 an ounce. And guess what, I
could grow it in my own back yard, if I wanted it. You cannot grow beer
or whiskey in your backyard. Oh, you can make your own beer, but that
is not worth it. You could grow one pot plant and smoke all year. The
powers that be are never going to go for that.

As far as the dog, suggest to the neighbors to give the dog a couple of
Benedril (1 mg per pound of dog). It will just knock him out and help with
any allergies he might have. Or offer to take it for a long walk and tire it
out. My big black dog is sound asleep because we went for a walk tonight.

lol....alien...people already are paying $300 to $500 per ounce, and more for exotics. I can tell ya right here and now, if its ever commercialized, I know a few hundred acres in the immediate vicinity that will be a growing for legal profits, hell yes, I'll plow fields all day and enjoy the ride.
