    Happiness is a feeling, Joy is a choice.

    Studies have shown that the people who are the happiest:
    1) Have solid inter-personal relationships - they "feel" connected to others in a positive way.  Usually through group events, clubs, hobbies, etc.

    and

    2) Take a generally positive/up-beat view about their life - optimistic, even if the facts don't appear to entirely bear-out their optimism.
