I had an interesting day at school today. I teach in a business college, and we have the most updated equipment, and there was one computer that came in to the office for me to use for my recording data, and no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to upload.

I don't know technical things, that is not what I teach.  I teach transcription.  So, if there is something technically going on with one of the computers, I don't have a clue what to do about it.

So, in comes the guy who works on them,  I think he is a programmer or something, he only comes in when we have problems with any of the equipment.

He thought it might be fun to keep kidding me about what I must have done to break the computer.  Now, short of crashing, my guess you can't do a lot to hurt these things, but he kept teasing and teasing me, and I'm thinking, he is either very bored, very lonely, or he was flirting.  I would have none of that, I have a husband and a cat, and am very happy, and I don't do the even nonsensical thing like "harmless" flirting with a stranger, so, I excused myself and went into the other room till he was done.

Hi, purposeful! Thanks for subscribing to my blog.

Re your interesting day. Unless the content of his teasing was specifically on personal or sexual matters, I would assume that he was merely trying to spice up his boring work.

I had a short stint too as a techie that serviced computer problems on-site, and after a while, it does get incredibly tedious. Most techies become too grumpy to ask you about details, or too focused to even notice that you're there. But some techies do cope through small talk, or even by innocently flirting, depending on you reaction. I guess it takes all kinds... :-)

purposeful- moonriver is right on this. There are also the guys who get an ego boost from joking like he did and showing the women how smart he is fixing it. My wife mentions this about guys at work sometimes.

I am like you, a no-nonsense person.  I would have gotten up and moved to the next room also.  Mostly, because I don't have time in my busy day for small talk.
